to the woman in the quiet car
There is a quiet car (or two) on every train. This is well known, and (usually) highly respected by everyone, because sometimes you just need some fucking peace and QUIET after a long day. Today there was a woman who picked up a telephone call to give instructions to someone on the other end about what desserts her shitty little kids may have. Another passenger got up to politely tell her it was the quiet car, to which the woman responded “YEA, I know. I had to just answer this one thing.” OH OKAY THEN. I didn’t realize that every single person in the quiet car got a pass to “answer one thing” on the phone. I didn’t know that all 50 of us packed into this car were allowed to take a couple of minutes to disturb everyone else who purposefully picked this car to sit in SILENCE, so we could all make sure our kids got the jelly doughnut and not the cream filled donut because Johnny doesn’t like cream filled donuts. EXCUSE ME BITCH. I’m so sorry that other passenger disturbed you from your important phone call in the quiet car. Please, forgive her mortal fucking soul, and all of us who expected a peaceful ride home at the end of a 90 degree sweaty day. #hangup #unplugbitch #ihopejohnnygetsacreamfilleddonut #stephrants
to “the greatest country on earth”
Wake up, America. Stop getting bogged down on whether this is SOLELY about gun control, a terrorist issue, mental health issue, political issue, or if it is caused by violence in video games, movies, TV, etc. Stop crying out about how statistics are misleading or incorrect. Name ONE other civilized country in the world with the amount and frequency of school and/or mass shootings that is on the same level as the United States (and isn’t due to war or civil unrest).
Regardless of the reasons that cause it, this is a uniquely United-States-problem. This is a NORM of the “greatest country on earth.” Which this begs the question – what gives us the right to call ourselves great if we don’t even know how or try to keep our children and educators safe? Teaching is not inherently a dangerous profession. Teachers are not police officers who have to confront criminals. They are not firefighters who have to risk their physical bodies to rescue people from burning buildings. They are not construction workers who have to wear safety harnesses when working on scaffolding or elevators. They are educators of minors and young adults - individuals who deserve a safe environment to learn and socialize and grow into the future of tomorrow. Regardless of your views on WHAT causes this problem in the US, you need to acknowledge it. You need to agree that this happens, and too often, and that it needs to stop. If you cannot get on board with that simple notion, you do not deserve to be here. You do not deserve to have a voice. You do not deserve to benefit from the public school system in this country. You do not deserve to have children of your own. You do not deserve the air that you breathe in every day.
Regardless of the reasons for what causes the incredible number of school and mass shootings in this country, and regardless of the solution to stopping them, we all need to WAKE UP and acknowledge this is an issue.
**On a personal note, I have two nieces who are students and a brother and several friends who are educators. They deserve safety. If you want to bring your bullshit excuses and political agenda into my life, you can go fuck yourself. These are my people. They deserve a safe place to live and learn.
my uncle makes me so mad tbh like w o w you have the audacity to treat your sister like that when she let you live at our house for five months when you first moved back to the uk???????????
super tired of the way we hold marginalized and oppressed people to higher standards than their oppressors tbqh.
