Carlos Santana has announced a new album....
A new album from Carlos Santana, Sentient, slipped out in late March. I hadn't heard anything about it until last week, but as soon as I did, I went to YouTube to give it a listen. The album features musicians like Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, and Carlos' wife, drummer Cindy Blackman Santana. It did not disappoint. The album is a compilation with three previously unreleased tracks . But it pulls together several collaborations Carlos has done in recent years that Santana fans might have missed (I did). It features more of Carlos' guitar playing than anything else in his catalog, and as I consider him to be one of the three best guitarists I've ever heard, the album is one of the best things I've heard this year. This article from Stereoboard.com will provide details, and the album is available to stream, and to buy online, or, presumably in record shops if you're lucky enough to live near a good one. Very highly recommended.
“I had some flashes and visions of a place that didn’t look anywhere close to something real. I have no idea why I had this, or where it came from. It was somewhere very magical—the most beautiful thing you could ever think about.
