For a change, today I’m going to be writing about two make-up products I’ve had for many months now - one which I love, and one which I just can’t get on with. Both products are from different price points and brands, so let’s dive into it!
LOVE ❤️
The product I love is Steve Laurant’s Wild Thing eyeshadow palette, which I received in my May glossybox. This palette contains 9 shades - 4 matte and 5 shimmers. The colours are mostly everyday nudes, so it’s great for versatility but also fab for turning a day look into a night look due to the gentle radiance of the shimmer shades.
The best things about this product are:
👍 The pigmentation is amazing - the colour stays put all day long even after napping for an embarrassingly long time! It doesn’t take much to create a strong, eye-catching look.
👍 The colours work well together and make up a great basis for so many eye looks.
👍 While these are pressed eyeshadows, they have a slightly creamy texture which makes them feel velvety upon application.
👍 Because of this, they are so easy to work with! Building up a glam make-up look has never been so simple.
This palette retails for about £31, which is a LOT of money for such a small palette. To be honest I wouldn’t want to spend that much money myself on a product like this, but if you want to splurge or put it on your Christmas list then it’s really worth it.
HATE 💔
The product I’m not so fond of is Revolution’s Curl Elevation mascara. I absolutely love Revolution as a brand on the whole, so I’m really disappointed that this mascara just doesn’t float my boat.
The reasons I don’t like this product is because:
👎 The formula is very, very clumpy. I always have to pick at the ends of my lashes to get rid of the clumps after applying this product, and nobody wants to do that!
👎 I wouldn’t say it makes a big difference to my lashes in general. If I’ve been wearing it all day and want to go out in the night, I have to reapply it to get some definition back. But even then there’s not that much of an improvement 🤷
👎 This mascara is meant to give a curling effect to lashes, but doesn’t do that as effectively as other mascaras I’ve tried in the past. Plus it doesn’t fan lashes out very well, so they just curl straight upwards and bunch together.
👎 I’d say this mascara started feeling dry after only a month or two of use, whereas other mascaras I’ve used in the past have lasted far longer.
This product costs £6 so it’s definitely a bargain, but I’d personally rather spend a bit more to get a mascara that truly delivers.
