~ Review of UB Cosmetics True Glow Skin Illuminating Stick ~
The weekend is here again! 🥳 And not just a normal weekend, but the start of my Christmas holidays as my university semester is all done and dusted! Now you’d think that the start of the festive season would encourage me to write a positive blog post, but for a change I’m going to be writing about a product I just can’t get on with. I always tend to focus on products I love so that maybe you’ll end up loving them too, but sometimes it’s also important to know what to steer clear of and this is one of those times!
I received this highlighter as part of my May Glossybox, and unfortunately it just doesn’t hit the mark for me. This product claims to impart a glow to your skin that looks as if it’s “bathed in the first rays of sunlight”. Now this is exactly the kind of thing I like to hear, so I was really excited to put this product to use and see if it would live up to these expectations.
The colour itself is lovely - it’s a very subtle, golden type colour that would look good on most skin tones. I’m not a big fan of blinding highlighter on the skin, and the first time I swatched this on my hand I was really impressed with how gentle yet shimmery it looked. However, the texture of this stick is really not user-friendly in my opinion - it’s very difficult to get the product to glide across the skin easily straight from the stick, and even when using your fingers to try and warm the product up it just becomes one solid line and barely come off from your fingers to your face. It’s not very easy to blend either so it fails on that front too 👎
I also think that in natural daylight the ‘shimmer’ looks more like chunky bits of glitter - I found this when I applied the product on my brow bone a few weeks ago. It looked as if some sort of glitter confetti had been blasted on my face which is not a good look! 😂
This product costs around £16 and honestly, it really isn’t worth it. I’ll stick (pardon the pun) to my trusty powder highlighters and save a lot of money in the process! Have a lovely weekend everyone 💕
