Oooooh, I love a good period/fairy tale AU for Steve/Thor!! Like, Steve's a prince who's set up in an arranged marriage with Prince Thor, and he's upset about having to marry a total stranger, but willing to put aside his own feelings to uphold the alliance the marriage will bring if it keeps his people safe. But then he gets to the altar and sees Thor, who watches him with kind eyes and takes his hands so gently as they say their vows (never mind how handsome he is), and all the butterflies in his stomach fade away as he realises what a good thing this could be <3
I LOVE IT!! lol that scenario gives me such Swan Princess vibes, where they are bethroted but hate each other as kids but then they grow up and actually start feeling attraction (tbf, the writing in that particular movie isn’t that strong and hormones do most of the heavy lifting, but yeah)
Oh, oh, BONUS POINTS if Steve turns into some kinda creature (A SWAN! Pretty but deadly), because fairy tales! Or maybe there’s a curse on Thor who HAS to make Steve fall in love with him, lest he dies or a curse permanently changes him! and ofc, Steve ends up falling for him.

Also, if we’re talking about nobility/period piece AUs, Steve would totally be the self sacrificing heroine who dreams of true love but puts the needs of her family first, while Thor is the silent, broody Austen hero with a not-so secret heart of gold who falls for the heroine of modest fortune who isn’t afraid to speak her- ahem, his mind.
