Steve has passed away.

Sharon had been through this once before. Steve dying. The problem was, he died because of her the first time. Now it seems he died because of her again. The tears fell freely from her eyes, her hand rested against his hand as they took off the heart monitor. He promised her he wouldn't be Cap anymore. He made an oath to her, so why did he have to break it?

"You promised me." Share whimpered against his hand, their son, James sitting outside in the waiting room with uncle Bucky. The blonde didn't know if she was more angry, or just broken as he laid still, motionless on the bed.  "Why couldn't you let me go?" The events plagued her mind.

He didn't have his shield, but he still had his reflexes. The gun was on Sharon and he knew it before she had the chance to react. Three shots in the chest, and it was all because he couldn't stand to watch her go instead of him. Sharon held him until the ambulance came, Sam went after the man who shot him. A rogue HYDRA agent had tracked them it seemed. None of it really mattered to the once bubbly, sarcastic blonde. The only man she ever loved was taken from her.

"I love you, so damn much." She cried against his lips, holding his cold lifeless body against hers. The serum already leaving him, letting Steve turn into nothing more than a skeleton in her arms. Sharon bawled even harder against him, he was never cap, just Steve. In the end, he died Steve Rogers, the man who loved her. The man she always adored.

Bucky walked into the room, James hiding behind his leg. He coughed to signal to Sharon they needed to go. Her eyes slowly looked up to meet his, "We have to go now, Sharon." Buck picked up James as the boy hid his face in the mans shoulder. Sharon kissed Steve's forehead once again. "I love you, Grant."

She took in a deep breath and made herself walk towards Bucky, the man simply rubbed the young boys back and took Sharon's hand. The girl turned and looked into Steve's best friends eyes. "He'll never get to know we were having a girl." Bucky kissed her head and walked them out. James stared at his fathers skeleton frame as Bucky walked them away, raising an extremely small hand for a boy of his age he waved goodbye to his father. "Goodbye, daddy."
