Realized the other day (while listening to a podcast about a book) that writing beautifully isn't really my aim. I don't aim to be quotable. I don't aim for beautiful prose.

I want to be functional. I want the words to disappear so thoroughly that my readers can see and hear my characters. As a writer, I want to be nearly invisible.

And you know what? That realization gave me some peace and cured some of my feelings of inadequacy.

Okay. I still fully intend to return to Intimacy Log, but…

I’m going to be actively trying to put some distance between myself and the fandom. I’m going to be unfollowing a bunch of people and I’m probably going to just stop posting here. I’ll post updates and I can probably answer asks, but that’s about all I’m going to do over here.

It’s not because I don’t love you guys! The art and the headcanons and everything I see is wonderful and the fact that you’re all still here (or just discovering Entrapdak) is fantastic. It’s really down to the way my brain works.

At my core, my motivation for writing and for fandom isn’t affection for the source material. It’s dissatisfaction. It’s that gnawing feeling that there’s more here that is being ignored, and the desire to expand on things that are not the focus or intention of the source media.

For whatever reason, that motivation has left me. I think it’s because my experience with the fandom has satisfied that feeling for me. Which is great! But it means it’s hard to find the motivation to write. So. My other fics are wrapping up (finally), and I’m going to try separating myself from the SPOP fandom and see if I can reignite that motivation so I can return to Intimacy Log. Maybe give the show another rewatch.

I wanted to give you guys a heads up, so no one thinks I’ve fully disappeared or gets hurt because I’m not following anymore.

so what order of your undertale fics would you recommend reading? 👉👈

Oh, goodness. Let's see...

The Broken Bones Multiverse is easy: Broken Bones 1st, then Bone Shards, then Compound Fracture. (CF is complete, even if it says there's one chapter to go.)

After that, it depends on if you want to engage with the Twistfell stuff or not. If you don't, no worries--I think a good chunk of the oneshots can be read in any order. Skip the ones tagged with Twistfell characters, and you'll be fine. They might still appear in the background, but shouldn't be central to the plot.

If you want to engage with Twistfell, you can either start with "Undertale AU: Twistfell" or Life Cycles. Start with the former if you want the background laid out for you all at once and explicitly. Start with Life Cycles if you don't mind the characters being slowly unveiled. I wrote that as I would a traditional book, slowly revealing history as you come to know more and more about the characters. (You can also check out my other blog @kitstwistfellau for details.)

And, of course, 'Atypical' and 'Untypical' can stand alone. I could drop that on someone unfamiliar with Undertale and their only question would be "okay, but why are they also skeletons?"
