cracking a smile because that one was actually punny
cuddling
and lots of it
after he got home it was a tradition that you guys cuddled
he would wrap his muscular arms around you so tight you could barely move
so many forehead kisses
a mini argument on what to watch
he would be so bent on watching something like greys anatomy or harry potter
but you would want to try a new show
going back and forth
he would grumble something along the lines of “you’re lucky i like you” as he put on a show you like
after a few episodes you would hear light snoring
eating take out every other night
then one night you both decide that you should eat healthier and tried to cook at home
which resulted in burnt broccoli and extremely dry chicken
him scratching the back of his head after tossing out the unsuccessful dinner
“sooo….in and out?”
you nod, “yup.”
him waking up earlier than you
“y/n please come to the gym” in his husky morning voice
“no”
he would always wanna be touching you
when out in public he would always hold your hand
when in a more private area he would wrap his arm around you
he would prank you
like for sure pranks all the time
he would do things like take your phone while not looking and hide it
when you went to take a shower, he would hide all your clothes
jump out from random places scaring you
whenever you guys go out with the crew (brian, andrew, geoff, etc) he would want to match
“hun look i have this idea-”
“babe i love you but i am not matching with you”
“what’s wrong with my style?”
“look at all your red carpet outfits.”
he would always have your hand in his when at parties
like he would be so overprotective
you were his girl and he didn’t want anyone getting any ideas
after an hour or so one of your friends would pull you out of shawn’s grasps to come hang with the girls
you would be having the time of your life and you would look up to see a tall, curly haired boy admiring from a distance
after a long night of partying the handsome boy would carry you to his bed tucking you in
“goodnight”
a soft forehead kiss
“i love you”
“i love you more”
all types of hugs
but hugs from behind are his favorite
him being so shy even though you’re dating him
he would always ask to kiss you
you would always say yes
when hanging out in groups, he would always clingy to your side
and you never minded
taking his tour merch
him giving you your own merch clothes so you didn’t keep taking his
you explaining the clothes he gave you didn’t smell like him
him complaining
but he secretly loved seeing you in his stuff and loved the fact you loved the way he smelled
he would always be so flustered when with you
when talking about you he would always get so smiley
making him laugh so hard he claps and throws his head back
he would have an album in his camera roll dedicated to you
he would save all of your selfies and candid pictures
he would be so needy for kisses all the time
neck nuzzling
listening to his music with him
he would get so into it and you couldn’t help but to adore him
when he realizes you’re just watching him, he gets all blushy
idk but i feel like he would always want you to sit on his lap
him taking you to “run errands”
but he would walk around to your favorite stores and take note of everything you said was cute
shawn would for sure feel like you deserved everything in life and what to treat you like the queen you are
one day you come home from a lunch with a few friends and you open your bedroom door to clothes, shoes, makeup, jewelry, etc. and you’re so confused because you didn’t buy it
going through it you would find a card and at the bottom it was signed love always sm x
and you would smile to yourself because you would wonder how you could’ve possibly gotten to be with the sweetest boy in the world
you can't tell me shawn wouldn’t have an album on his phone dedicated to you. from candids, to selfies, every picture of you, he had saved into his camera roll. geoff and brian would tease him but he would always shrug it off because they didn’t understand how lucky and proud he was to get to call you his. but you were completely unaware until one day shawn asked brian to take a picture of you two and geoff laughed and asked teasingly if it was going into the y/n shrine and shawn told him to shut up. his rosy cheeks became more red than usual but brian and geoff kept laughing. later on when shawn and you were alone, you would ask him what that was all about. he would tense up and you could see his face turning a crimson red. he would take a breath before pulling out his phone, “i-i-i swear i just don’t-” he stuttered not even finishing but just turning his phone towards you. at first you didn’t realize what you’re looking at but you would realize they were pictures of you. pictures from your first date, off guard pictures, pictures of you sleeping. “whenever i’m with you i can’t help but to feel like the luckiest man in the world. i’m with the most beautiful person i have ever laid my eyes on and i love taking pictures of you to just have them there when you aren’t around.” shawn explain avoiding eye contact still a little red. cupping his chin with your hand, you lift his face to meet your gaze. “you’re the most sweetest boy and i love you so much.” you smiled before giving him a soft kiss. “shawn, i would be lying if i said i didn’t have a album of pictures of you in my phone.” his eyes would light up like stars in the sky and you would kiss your boyfriend again and again because he is truly the sweetest boy in the entire world.
you turned the lamp off leaving you in darkness except the light from the foyer and the moonlight shining through the large windows of your living room. you looked down at your phone seeing it was half past midnight. You weren’t the slightest upset you got a little carried away reading macbeth. after a cup of tea, the comfort of the sofa, and a knitted quilt, along with your favorite book, it made it hard for you to want go to bed.
you picked up your empty mug, that had chamomile tea in it a few hour ago, and you walked into the kitchen setting it into the sink. you were about to go upstairs until you heard your name being faintly called followed by light knocks on the front door. you immediately thank yourself you didn’t just going up stairs because you knew you would not come back down until morning. but you wondered who could be at your door this late at night.
you walked into the lit foyer, you saw an unexpected guest leaning against the double glass doors. you looked down at yourself wishing you didn’t find loose silk rompers more comfortable for bed more than sweats and a tee shirt. you didn’t want him seeing you like this. well not yet, you thought. maybe when your guys relationship wasn’t just in your head.
then it hit you.
you felt your heart speed up realizing he was at your house. did he come to confess that he had loved you longer than you had love him? or maybe he wanted you to come ride with him and just listen to music and talk or maybe he was finally coming to sweep you off your feet and take you away to get married to happy ever after land. you opened the door wonder which it would be.
“y/n,” your head, heart, and especially your hopes dropped as you heard him slur your name. he was drunk. “can i come in?” you didn’t speak but just opened the door wider, a silent way of telling him to come in, he stumbled a little but you caught him. he looked at you with a goofy smile and you shook your head smiling. oh how much you loved his smile. you pushed the front door shut locking it then flicked the lights off in the foyer.
the smile faded quickly as you tried not to let his drunkenness upset you but it did and you hated it. you and shawn had been friends for months now ever since brian introduced you two but he never got the hint that you had the biggest crush on him. you adored everything about him from the way his whole face lit up when he laugh to how he crinkled his nose when he was displeased to his beautiful brown eyes you always seemed to get lost in.
you tried to see the positive, he always came to you when in need. like when his girlfriend cheated on him so you planned a movie night to get his mind off of it or the time he needed help with his english class when they were reading hamlet and he didn’t understand so you stayed up helping him learn it before his exam and even when he needed help planning a date with a girl you envied purely because the man of your dreams wanted her instead of you. and after each and every time you came to his rescue he would hug you and say thanks friend.
you tried to stop thinking about him but you couldn’t. shawn didn’t look at you as more than a friend and he never would and it annoyed you. what was wrong with you? you were just as good as any other girl he has ever liked. you had soft hair, loved classic, and you are semi funny. you simply sighed grabbing a glass out of the cupboard before filling it full of water. you stopped in the medicine cabinet grabbing two aspirins before making your way upstairs to your room.
The tall, built boy managed to make his way upstairs to your room and curl up in your bed. you couldn’t help it but your heart fluttered with excitement. then you realized the only way he would ever be in your bed if he was drunk and needed somewhere to sleep. you shake your head as you walked into your closet grabbing a shirt and sweats he had given you. you thought back on the night that you realized you had the hots shawn. it was at small gathering at brian’s house on his birthday, he and shawn were messing around wrestling and he managed to hit someone and their drink spilled all over your favorite outfit. he apologized as he gave you the sweatshirts off his back and joggers to keep. he kept apologizing and made up for it more by send you roses and a sorry card. you caught yourself smiling like an idiot as you reminisced.
“shawn,” you cooed pulling off his shoes. no response. you sighed as you tugged at the end of his black jeans until they came off and you did the same with his blue shirt. you felt semi guilty about seeing him almost naked but you didn’t want his dirty clothes on your clean bed. you dressed him in the clean clothes then tossed his dirty ones in the hamper. you made a mental reminder to put them in the washer first thing in the morning. you looked down at shawn as he slept peacefully and you couldn’t help but to smile. he was so beautiful. you tucked him in without trying to wake him. you looked at him one last time and only hoped one day you could do this again, as his girlfriend.
you climbed in bed next to him with a decent amount of space between you two and picked up macbeth. after an hour and a half you figured you had read enough for the night and set your favorite book on your nightstand and looked back at shawn. his hair was messy, his cheeks were pink, and he was curled up against your chest snoring softly. you leaned over kissing his forehead before reaching over turning off the light next to your bed.
“i love you,” you whispered to your drunk crush before falling asleep.
after months of counting down, everyone bubbling with excitement and joy, christmas had finally arrived.
it was christmas eve, your new home was filled with mendes’ and y/l/n. after you and shawn moved to new york, both families had to compromise to be with their loved ones. both of the families decided that christmas day should be spent with just the two of you, so christmas eve would be their opportunity to see you both on their time.
so when your phone rang at noon on sunday morning, you and shawn were fully prepared. you were both prepared for the “i missed you!”, “how’s married life?”,“you look so grown up!”, and “how is living together?” you were ready to see your family. ever since you moved from your hometown for work, you rarely got to see your family except for holidays but you couldn’t make it to thanksgiving because of work.
making sure the house was spotless as you two moved from your bedroom to the living room, you and shawn took one last deep breath before you opened the door. the peaceful silence that engulfed the house was about to be interrupted by loud children, selfie taking teenagers,wine-drunk aunts, but it was bittersweet.
when you opened the door, the sight of your side of the family came into view. you smiled welcoming your mom and sister at the front door, holding onto pots and bottles, while your younger brother stood behind them with more food, and your dad and uncle were all grabbing the gifts from their cars in the drive-way.
“merry christmas!” you and shawn chimed before the chaos began. in a matter of seconds you and shawn were engulfed with hugs from your mom, cheek-pinches from grandma, and your siblings waved. before your dad and uncle could make it in, shawn’s family pulled into the driveway.
finally, when everyone was guided away from the front door, now settling throughout the house, you shut the front door and turned to shawn. you both shared a wide-eyed look before a breath of relief when you stepped into him, him resting his chin on top of your head.
“ready for it?” he asked, referring to the whole day in general.
“barely,” you sighed before lifting your head straight and looking up at him. “at least they like each other.”
one thing that you were blessed with, was the fact that yours and shawn’s families liked each other. your mom adored shawn’s, and shawn’s adored yours. your cousins and nieces and nephews got along with his cousins, the grandmas always sat together and talked, and the dads shared a lot of common interest.
that was one bullet dodged.
thankfully, the whole day was one-long disaster avoided.
you were in the kitchen for most of the evening with the mothers, preparing dinner and trying to finish setting the dining room table. shawn, however, was trying to be the best host and lingering around the lounge room, asking who needed what and serving up the drinks right off the bat.
as you were running back and forth from the dining room to the kitchen, placing the food and plates and such, shawn’s mom stopped you in the kitchen. “y/n, i have something for you!” she grinned, catching you off-guard. you placed the pot back onto the stove once she stepped around to head to the bag sitting on the bar. “it was sort of a last minute gift, but shawn’s dad and i always enjoyed it during the holiday season.”
you peeled the oven mitt from your hand and watched her fetch something from the festive bag, and the turn around, revealing a large bottle of wine. she handed it to you, softly placing her hand on top of yours and telling a short story. “it’s one of the finest wines from france. we always get it during the holiday season, and i figured you and shawn would like to have a bottle this year.”
you smiled warmly at her. “thank you so much.” you nodded and her hand dropped from yours.
“it’s no problem,” she said with a shake of the head.
“i’m going to go stash it away before the aunts get their hands on it.” you teased and she laughed before you stepped away. you walked around the corner of the island and opened one of the shelves, revealing a small wine rack on the inside, where you slid it into place before shutting it swiftly and turning back to the food.
that wine would definitely come into play later, when all the families were gone.
dinner had sent by smoothly that afternoon. there was no food dropped to the floor, no arguments, but instead peace and eating their worth weight in turkey and stuffing. you received many compliments for the turkey, but you didn’t have the heart to tell them that you stood in the kitchen for two hours last night trying to figure out how to cook it, just before shoving it in the oven and hoping for the best. when a compliment left someone’s lips you and shawn would just share a look before laughing.
after dinner you, your mom, and shawn’s mom cleaned up. the next big event of the night was opening the presents, and the kids were forced to wait for a moment, but it felt like an eternity to them.
“kids”, you thought. that was, until aaliyah peeked her head around the corner of the kitchen and asked how much longer. she only received a smile from the moms and you before quickly clapping and diving back into the other room.
a bit of boxing up food for others to take, and placing the rest in containers for the refrigerator, you sat out the sweets in the kitchen before it was finally time to open presents. and the “kids” didn’t hold back when they heard the first chime of “it’s time!”
within moments the living room was flooded with wrapping paper, and ripped boxes and bags. the dads took over handing out the gifts for everyone, so you were able to finally take a break and sit down on the sofa next to shawn.
most of the time you spent just watching everyone else. the only gifts that were being opened that night were the ones that the families brought, not shawn’s or yours for each other. those would be saved for the morning. you watched as your nephews ripped into the new toys that you bought them, and a second later aaliyah launched herself onto you at the sight of her new iphone x, which earned you a raised eyebrow from shawn, and right after karen thanked you for the gifts you got her for her around the house. your mom loved the new set of mugs shawn ordered her, as she was an avid collector, and your grandma cooed over her new purse.
the moment was filled with joy as the kids squealed from happiness at the sight of a new toy, and the others gasped from shock that “you spent that much money on me?” you leaned into shawn, his arm tucked around your waist and your head on his shoulder as you both sat comfortably on the sofa.
“I think they liked the plush pillow.” You said to shawn when your nephew picked it up and began to swing it around before laying on it. you two shared a laugh before shawn piped up;
“and aaliyah hasn’t put down that phone you got her since she opened it.” he nodded towards her sister, whom sat on a stool across the room. you looked at aaliyah as she held the phone in her lap protectively and laughed. “you also just made her so much more teenage-y.” shawn joked and you laughed. well… “you know, we were like that a few years ago.”
typically, the festive night died down after the presents were opened. the kids would be getting tired, the adults would be sleepy from eating a full meal, and everyone would relax for the last hour together before they left.
however, that was not the case for this years party.
when you returned from downstairs after stashing away yours and shawn’s presents in the guest room, it was the exact opposite of what you expected. everyone was eating the snacks and sweets you had placed out, the kids were playing with their toys on the floor, and the adults were having a bit of fun with the karaoke machine that was gifted as a present.
as the grandmas sang jingle bells together, you watched as shawn danced in the lounge room. he was holding onto your nephew, and was spinning your niece around like a ballerina to the music. karen and your mom were having more fun laughing and poking fun, which you would have any other day of the year, but this time you stood back and admired the view.
standing on the last step right before the lounge room, you looked at the house. the moms were laughing, sipping on champagne from flutes in the doorway of the kitchen. the dads were together and talking on the sofa. aaliyah along with your siblings, were making fun of shawn as he danced horribly. the grandmas were next to the telly, rocking along to the beat of the song they sang. and there was shawn, holding your nephew on his hip as he twirled your niece and laughed with her giggles. the brightest smile tugged on your lips at the sight.
what you were so stressed about for the past week had came together perfectly at the last minute. even though you sometimes did wish you weren’t in new york of all places, there was no other places you would rather be at that moment.
the next morning was unlike the night before. the house was filled with cheer and joy, laughing and talking, but that morning it was as silent as a mouse.
the night before, however, had been a success. everyone left the house with stuffed stomachs, happy hearts, and full arms. there were enough hugs and kisses for all of new york as you and shawn said goodbye to your families for the last time and shut the door behind them.
you couldn’t remember much after everyone left. you were so exhausted last night after everyone left, but you did have faint memories of slipping into your pajamas and breaking open the bottle of wine shawn’s mom gifted you.
but when you woke up the next morning, it wasn’t next to shawn. you woke up alone in the bed at 7:30, but from the open door you could hear footsteps downstairs. you raised a brow of confusion and pushed yourself out of bed, grabbing the shirt that rested on the floor and slipping it on before walking downstairs.
slowly walking downstairs, you felt the warmth from the heat hit your arms, and the aroma of food hit your nose. taking a step down into the lounge room, you noticed all of the presents you and shawn had were tucked under the tree and a few blankets were spread on the sofa while a couple mugs sat on the coffee table. “shawn?” you finally called out.
“in the kitchen hun!”
crossing the room and into the kitchen, you stepped inside to see shawn standing in front of the stove. he was hearing a white long-sleeved shirt with a pair of grey joggers, and let alone, a red santa hat on his head. you laughed at the sight of him and walked further inside, gazing at the bar to see what he was doing.
“i’m fixing breakfast for the both of us.” shawn announced, grabbing a red plate that sat on the counter before shuffling a couple of pancakes on to it and handing it to you. “everything else is on the island.” he said, leaning over and pressing a quick kiss to your lips.
you were so surprised by what had happened so far that morning, most of your mind hadn’t even processed it. the bar across from you sat bowls and plates of fruits, different flavored syrups, and some other sides.
“oh my gosh,” you breathed out, sitting your plate on the bar and turning back to him. “shawn, how long have you been awake?”
“since six.” he slid the last pancake on his plate and shutting off the stove. “i couldn’t sleep much last night anyways, i was just trying to think about how to make today absolutely perfect.”
you shook your head. “you didn’t have to do all of this, you know. last night was more than enough for me.”
“you deserve so much more for what you did yesterday. you were the brains of that whole party, you know.” he sat his plate down on the bar, taking a step behind you and placing his chin on your shoulder as you grabbed the fruit. “my mom was telling me last night that i got so lucky to have you.”
“so did mine, but i think she was talking about your dance moves more than anything else.” you joked, the both of you laughing. shawn squeezed your ticklish hips and the both of you prepared your own breakfast plates.
after breakfast, shawn had pulled you excitedly back to the lounge room and to the christmas tree.
the both of you, in your early-twenties, were like children that morning. after eating a full breakfast, the two of you sat in front of the christmas tree in your pajamas and opened the presents while sharing small kisses and cups of hot chocolate.
you and shawn gave each other a range of gifts- from watches to movies, CD’s that nobody could find anymore, a necklace and writing journals, and then the biggest gift from you to shawn- tickets to john mayer. he leaned over, wrapping his arms around you and sending to you to floor before he showered you with kisses and thank yous while you laughed.
however, the presents weren’t just the ones under the tree. shawn had excused himself for a moment and when he came back, he was pushing a large box against the floor from the dining room and into the lounge room. you raised to your feet from the floor, raising a brow at him.
“shawn, what did you do?”
he chuckled. “nothing bad, i promise.”
when shawn scooted the box over to you, you were a bit hesitant at first, but continued to open it anyway. you peeled back the red wrapping paper and took the large bow and placed it on the coffee table before continuing to open it. once all of the paper was gone, you finally reached over and opened the flaps of the box, pulling it apart.
not knowing exactly what to expect, it was needless to say that what came out of the box surprised you. when you opened the box, what seemed like a dozen red and gold balloons lifted out and raised to the ceiling. there were strings attached to all of the balloons, and at the bottom of the string, were pictures.
you took a step back, letting all of the balloons float to the ceiling. when you caught a glimpse of one of the photos, tears began to burn your eyes. the photos attached to the balloons were all pictures of you and shawn, and it seemed like there were twenty one them hanging around the lounge room.
“shawn…” you trailed off, your voice quivering.
your fingers reached out and softly grabbed the first photo, turning it around so you could see what it was. it was one of the first photos of you and shawn when you became friends, from a mutuals party years ago to celebrate their birthday. you and shawn were on opposite sides of the photo, but it was the first night you two had met.
after that, all of the other photos were of you and shawn throughout the years. there was a photo, technically a screenshot, of you two hugging in one of his videos that you took part in. another photo was of you two on a flight to brazil for a show, both of you smiling and giving thumbs up.
the next photo was just of you, but taken by shawn. you were asleep, head leaning against your arm on the table and using it as a pillow. it was from yours and shawn’ first adventure through France in the early stages of your relationship.
another photo was you two standing on a mountain in switzerland, both donning layers of clothes and jackets and on snowboards. another photo was you sitting in his desk chair, your legs tucked under you, and you were holding his guitar in your arms with a funny face.
the other photos ranged throughout the past few years to months. there was a photo of you two in shawn’s jeep after a night out, his nose was pressed against your temple and laughing as you grinned and took the photo. another photo was of you two, your backs to the camera showing off his merch, as you stood on the stage of madison square garden.
the smile on your lips couldn’t be knocked off as you looked through the range of photos attached to the balloons. shawn stood back, watching you move through the strings of the balloons, taking your time and staring at each photo as if it was the last time you would see it.
you laughed at the next photo when you realized it was from disney world last year, you and shawn both wearing the minnie and mickey mouse ears and wearing goofy smiles at the camera.
you continued, looking at the next two photos side-by-side. one from a from vacation you guys took to bali and then the other from the amas.
the photo from the amas, was actually after the show itself. it was taken by geoff as you and shawn stood in backstage after his performance, you hugging him tight regardless of his sweat-drowned body, and his eyes closed tight, a smile on his lips.
the last photo attached to a balloon was from august, from his birthday. andrew took the picture for you from your phone, so you had no idea how shawn got the photo, but it was your favorite one of you and shawn by far. you two were standing in front of a window in his old apartment, but it was mid-laugh for the both of you, and that was the only decent one you two took. shawn had his head thrown back in laughter, eyes squeezed shut, and you were leaning onto him as his arm politely tucked around your waist. It was blurry, but it was cute and nobody could deny it.
as you finished looking at the last photo, you turned and looked at the first, and realized that shawn had made it go full circle. a full circle of two full years that you two spent together as a couple, spending countless days and nights, countless flights, and making countless memories together throughout photos.
“shawn..” you trailed off again, turning and looking at him. he was standing and watching you with a grin on his lips, holding a old balloon in his hands. a second later he let it go and it floated to the ceiling, but this time instead of a photo, it had the words “to 2018″ written on it in pen.
“i fucking love you so much.” you shook your head and reached up, grabbing his cheeks and pulling yourself up to meet his lips. “thank you so much for this.”
“I was hoping that you would love it.” he admitted when you pulled back and rested your feet back against the floor. “it took me a few weeks to get all the photos, and balloons, but it was worth it seeing you smile so large.”
you stared up at him, feeling your heart flutter and fill with happiness and love. you smiled. “i love you.”
“i love you too.” he whispered before kissing you and letting his lips linger against yours for just a moment. he pulled back and admired his job well-done throughout the gifts. “so what was your favorite gift of them all?” he slid his hand around your back and hooked his arm around your shoulders.
you bit your bottom lip and reached down, grabbing the golden bow from the table and smacking it against shawn’s chest, letting it stick there.
“you’re my favorite gift of them all.”
“oh, look at who’s being cheesy now.” he chuckled before kissing you again and then bending down, hooking his arm under your knees and picking you up. you giggled and kissed him again before he tossed you onto the sofa and followed.
you placed your hand on his cheek, sliding against his head and then fingers threading to his hair. your lips broke apart and you looked at him, “merry christmas, mendes.”
when you first realized your best friend, shawn, had a crush on you, you didn’t think anything of it mainly out of fear. you were friends through brian and you didn’t want to make it weird between any of you. you would notice shawn’s attempts to get your attention but always brush it off as him being friendly. as time went on, all he wanted was to be able to call you his girl. he would start to push the boundaries of how you act together without being official. he would wanna spend so much more time with you because you’re all that’s ever on his mind. if you were watching netflix, going to the beach, studying, reading, or even just sitting relaxing, he would want to be in your presence. shawn loved hearing you speak, whether you were ranting about your favorite tv show, gushing over food, it didn’t matter. he would find himself smiling and admiring you. he would become extra physical, he’d stand behind you and wrap his arms around your waist and rest his head on yours while you scrolled through twitter, other times he would just put his arm over your shoulder because he towers over you so much but his favorite thing was to intertwine his fingers in yours. during movie night you would fall asleep and shawn being a good “friend” would carry you to his bed and would start cuddling you more often than usual. waking up to his light snore while being wrapped up in his arms and your guys legs tangled, was the best.
shawn would write you love notes whenever he missed your face, the way your hair always got in the way of your cuddling (even though he loved it because you used coconut shampoo), the way you crinkled your nose when you smiled, and the way you always laughed at his cringey jokes. he first would get the idea when you both were in bed watching tv one night and the guy on the show would write everything he loved about his girlfriend and leaving them around the house. you sleepishly yawned about how much you wanted that before falling asleep in his arms. he was at the store the next day picking up sticky notes in your favorite colors. you would notice the first sticky note one morning on the bathroom mirror when you went to brush you your teeth. you looked out the bathroom into your bedroom seeing a sleepy shawn climbing out of bed. “you really think i have a smile worth millions?” you asked. he smiled looking up, “i know it.” he smiled confidentially.
ever since you could remember, shawn has always loved hockey and you being his best friend, you were always there in the crowd cheering him on. when he graduated high school and made the transition to college, it got a lot harder and harder to make it to every game. you always had homework or work anytime he had a game and even though it frustrated him, the only person he wanted in the stands couldn’t make it, he understood. one night your boss let you off early after overhearing how upset you were you couldn’t make it to the most important game to him. he called out something about young love as you thanked him running out. after you parked your car, you reached in the back seat grabbing one of the several sweatshirts you kept of his throwing it over your head. you smiled to yourself as you smelled your best friends cologne as you walked towards the large crowd of people. you were surrounded by unfamiliar faces in an unfamiliar place. you didn’t know where you were but you did know where you were going. you pushed through the crowd making your way to the rink where you saw your favorite man. ever since he was younger, he would take a moment after each and every game to stand on the pitch and admire it like he would never see another one again. you stayed quiet until he turned around and saw you. he didn’t say anything, he would only give you a weak smile and he would just walk over wrapping his arms around you giving you a little squeeze. he didn’t have to tell you but, they lost. “c’mon hun, let’s go.” he would say after gathering all his hockey stuff. you would simply nod and say “alright mendes.”
