What is Stickshop on Wheels?
CONCEPT: Stickshop on Wheels (S.o.W.) is a mobile workspace connecting yards, stilts, people and play. It’s a different type of ‘mobile’ device — one that requires us to put down our phones, and do something together.
Like a bike shop, it makes and fixes stilts (or sticks). Conceived on wheels, it stores tools and materials needed to make and repair stilts on the spot –– in the yard, at events, in schools, and on the road. It’s a toolbox for the Caribbean stilt-walking and Moko Jumbie community. A site for building and learning.
Intrinsic to a bike or skate shop, it’s a place to gather and talk –– to promote community and walking in Caribbean space. One defined by movement and well-being. The Stickshop mission is simple, #stickslikebikes — a pair of stilts next to each bicycle in Caribbean garages and yards.
