The red hair attracted his attention first and foremost. Natural gingers were not a common occurrence in Olaf's part of the world. He couldn't help but wonder if it was natural. It had to be. Who on earth would dye their hair red.
It wasn't until he got a little closer that he noticed the redheaded gent was fiddling with something. A lighter. The man had a cigarette stuck carelessly between his lips as he tried aggressively to get the lighter to work. In a rare act of basic courtesy, Olaf half-walked, half-tap danced over to where he was standing, his black boots making the minimal amount of noise as he approached the stranger. He waited to be noticed for a few moments. When it failed to happen, Olaf clicked his heels together loudly and let out an exaggerated fake cough.
"Couldn't help but notice you're in need of a light, my friend." Olaf said smoothly, as if they'd known each other for years. He reached into his pocket and felt around for a cheap lighter he was willing to give up. Olaf had quit smoking years ago, but he still couldn't go out of the house without at least six lighters and a matchbook in his pocket, just in case he got a good chance to burn something. He tossed the redhead a green plastic one he'd purchased at the convenience store by the train station on his way back from Paltryville.
"Keep it. I don't need it." He explained with a smile.
