Sticky Notes Challenge (intro)
Background: It is of common knowledge that certain mental disorders like anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, etc. can cause short and long term memory problems. I have always been very aware of things, but lately I have been forgetting about everything; checking my agenda and important dates, groceries I just bought, places I want to go, the plans I made yesterday, posts I want to write, things I want to do and/or have to do.. specially when I am feeling overwhelmed with lots of things in my head, so I feel I need to take action immediately.
I also love stationary and office supplies like most people here, but I always end up forgetting I have them and not using them so that’s why I have reduced my materials to only my MS Surface, its Surface Pen, and OneNote, and it all works great for me, but if I write something down on my PC, I forget it is there so that doesn’t work for me. In Money Heist, a Netflix series, the mother of one of the main characters, has memory problems, and she literally writes everything down on sticky notes and has them all around the house, in places she will get to see them. I thought I should start doing the same to increase productivity, getting on track, and then trying to become independent from them again. Externalizing things by writing them makes it easier to internalize them, again, for longer times. Goal: Write down everything important that crosses my mind on sticky notes and paste them in strategical places in order to increase productivity by remembering things. I will be using black ink to keep it consistent, simple, and visible. I bought different colors so I will be color coding my notes for example; thoughts, facts, time sensitive, to do, emotions (?), and whatever other category I encounter while doing this. The plan is to measure productivity in terms of things done induced by a sticky note out of sticky notes written. I think I will be keeping track of that on a sticky note as well lol.
When: I just ordered some 3 x 3″ colored sticky pads that are arriving on Wed Aug 31st, so I will start that day, but you’re free to start it right now if you can! I hope to update you on my journey almost every day on the first week and then every Wednesday, and that you update me too. Tag your posts with #StickyNotesChallenge and I’ll 100% read it and reblog it. Tell your friends (irl or tumblr) to try it too and see how this works for different people.
Disclaimer: It can be somehow difficult or annoying to do this if you share your living spaces (I actually do), but I’ll give it a try anyway.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND LIKE/REBLOG IF YOU ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE!
