Got a surprise ticket for a musical yesterday, as my aunt was to tired to attend the show herself. The production was 'Hair', unfortunately I wasn't as rapt about the show as she would have been. For me, the storyline was just too thin to get me into the flower power imagery at all. Though it rightfully abstained from making any references to the current time and had a moment there it showed a rather self aware critic on the not-so-sunny inner movement dynamics, it wasn't enough to be remembered or really thought provoking, but I guess it didn't wanted to be that anyway. And maybe that's enough for an evening of entertainment sometimes. Not what I expect from theater but most of the spectators enjoyed the show and staging, so maybe I should just stay away from mere pop culture musicals in the future. But it was nice to have the chance to watch it. The actors and musicians poured their heart out on the stage and really deserve due credit for bringing this energy to the show, that's beside any questions. So the show probably was a good balance to the more modern and difficult production of Peer Gynt at this years local theater festival as the program has to appeal to a range of people and tastes.
