STIIR return with the indulgent single ‘Heartstrings’
Following on from the success of their previous well-received single ‘Pressure’, which was named ‘Next Wave’ by Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 and given continuous airplay as a result, London-based alt-pop trio STIIR now look to continue their upward ascent with the release of their latest indulgent lo-fi song, ‘Heartstrings’. Produced by the band’s drummer Prem Rupawala, ‘Heartstrings’ continues to see the group channel their influences, which include Jamiroquai and The Beach Boys, while also adopting the more contemporary aesthetic of artists like Tame Impala and Steve Lacy. With its smooth and blissful vibes, their latest blend of alternative and psychedelic pop makes for a truly dreamy and warming listen. https://soundcloud.com/stiir/heartstrings-1 Speaking about their latest release, Ruben (band-member) describes the lyrics as "being about someone you love getting in the way of what you want to do with your life, because of how much you love them. "'Waiting on your front dreams', is like you holding back on the things you want the most in life, but you're being held back because they're pulling on your 'heartstrings' and holding you down. It's basically a feeling of getting roped in because you feel a certain way towards that person.” He goes on to describe the chorus as being about "feeling a certain way towards someone, no matter what changes. Even if things were to change and you weren't with them anymore. “'When the sun is done... I'll be here again' It's basically saying that you'd be around for them, to look after them, even if you weren't a part of their life anymore. The kind of love that doesn't care about circumstance or context."
