it was a lot to handle at once. on one hand they’d cracked the third key with derek. on the other, they’d found out who else was in the dead pool and now meredith was death. it seemed like they couldn’t catch a break but at least they’d cracked the key. his first instinct had been to wrap his arms around her and pull her into a hug when he overheard parrish’s voice from the phone tell lydia that meredith was gone. seeing as she’d seemingly frozen, he took the phone from her to hang it up, fully holding her with his arms firm around her. “hey, it’s okay. we tried our best.” he whispered, rubbing her back.
