it really made me seek out music that was older/less well known and forced me to think about how i could use music to capture a story or a person, and what made it so a song could have a massive emotional affect on someone with sound alone. now all of the songs i make are really heavy/ambient/electronic, with a bunch of random everyday sounds that i find & obsessively record everywhere, bc i think SWAN made me start paying attention to the music i could find everywhere
This is amazingly cool, I want to pick this comment up and shake it at people like, “Would you fucking look at this shit, this is rad as hell!”
I don’t know anything about making music, really, which is hilarious for someone writing a story about people who end up doing that. I got the words part down, maybe, if I just plow straight through it, and I can sing, but I’ve never fucking put together a tune or anything, so I was just like ‘how could what I made have influenced someone MAKING music, what sorcery is this?’
That’s a very Homicides approach, though, both the style and the incorporation of things from the everyday world, I delightedly approve~
