The potion master stared at her for a moment. He did not like being touched. Though at the same time --- why would anyone want to touch him. It was beyond him. The tone in her voice --- he knew he wasn't going to be able to run away from this. He kept his hands to the side of him as he moved in for a hug. having her close to him --- someone so bright and beautiful. His eyes turn away for a moment. Looking somewhere else. Severus couldn't be caught being gentle -- soft. None of that. he was used to being --- pretty much an ass. Though every time he was around her, there was like -- something that made everything change inside of him. He couldn't pinpoint it. but he wanted to ignore it.

a weight ; heavy , loaded , and drowned in guilt was as effective as locomotor mortis as sebastian stood just outside of the potions classroom - - the smell of shrivelfig and the now unforgettable stench of death creating a clouded , unseen barrier that was wholly nauseating and repugnant. one a memory of his twin sister , his failure as her brother to find a cure for her pain. the other of the crypt and his uncle , solomon , whose last breath was his taking. both aromas a reminder of what he lost - - killed. no longer had and would never have again. frantic thoughts pound in his temple , wondering just how professor sharp found out. for he must of known , otherwise why thunderbrew? a potion they had learned the previous semester?

❝ he knows. ❞ flushed crimson ignites beneath light brown freckles , comprehensive thought quickly flooding with all possible , worst case scenarios. could it have been ominis? had his friend retreated to the one professor he knew sebastian had strife - - the one that had always reminded him of his uncle?

the thoughts fly faster than a golden snitch in his mind , though sebastian was incapable of grasping onto a single one. ❝ sharp knows. ❞ it didn't matter that the hallway had become quiet , the gaze of others had become heavy , and a taller frame blanketed him in shadows. sebastian was held captive , a memory of the defining flash of green replaying in his hues until solomon's face melts into that of professor sharp's - - that same scrutinizing gaze of an auror who hated him that sebastian had seen his entire life. ❝ do you know? ❞

it seems, more often than not, the two of them have lost track of time during the visits that he makes to care for her. she's glad that he isn't watching the clock to leave as soon as he's able to, these little interactions were one of the few things that she had to look forward to. even if she realizes that it must be a burden for him to take so much time out of his own life to come and see her, she still selfishly takes as much of him as he'd give her.

it's mentioned that he should go -- and the mood she has shifts, idly sitting back in her chair and looking up at him. ❛ --- must you go? ❜ she knows what the answer is before he says anything, so she tries to quickly follow it up with a bit more convincing. ❛ its just.. it gets lonely here, with just solomon. maybe we could try going for another walk... ❜

“You could at least look pleased to see me, Professor.” A sly grin followed her words as the woman walked into the potions classroom. For one week she would be here, a request by the headmaster and defence against the dark arts teacher, to show the sixth and seventh years the perks of being an auror- to her though it felt as though she were recruiting children. Nonetheless, it was her job.

Eris pushed her dark curls over her shoulder as she walked further into the room, a walk down memory lane. She had always enjoyed potions, she could even say it had been her favourite class once upon a time. She leant on one of the desks in front of his own, tilting her head as she looked at him. “Though I suppose I should call you Aesop, hmm?”

to    be    or    not    to    be    late    seemed    to    be    the    motto    she’s    following    religiously,    making    it    a    recurring    theme    as    she    finds    herself    being    late    to    all    classes.    was    it    intentional?    at    first,    only.    well    ....    the    thought    did    linger    and    it    was    exhausting    enough    to    think    of    anything    at    those    ungodly    hours    of    the    morning.    the    worst    part    of    it    all,    the    biggest    tragedy    in    her    life    at    that    very    time,    was    that    she    no    longer    had    a    best    friend    by    her    side.    someone    to    guide    her,    to    lighten    the    darkness    she    brings    to    the    table.

instead    of    doing    what    was    expected    of    her,    alex    chooses    to    stroll    around    the    halls.    at    least,    she’s    getting    used    to    her    new    surroundings.    time    must’ve    slipped    away    because    she    doesn’t    know    if    the    classes    have    ended    or    if    someone    else    was    lurking,    but    one    thing    was    certain.    the    person    she    spotted    was    alive.    unless    it    was    one    of    hogwarts’    ghosts,    which    had    ratted    her    out    a    couple    times    now.    “    you    !    ”    voice    raises    as    index    finger    points    to    the    individual,    “    yeah,    you.    ”    she    reassured,    approaching    the    other.    “    wait,    i’ve    seen    you    in    detention    before   …    ”    cue    the    realization    ought    to    change    the    course    of    that    fateful    day.    “    …    how    do    you    feel    about    another?    ”

entirely abashed is the minute curl of his lip corners, the swell of full cheeks twinged the slightest hue of crimson. potions are not his strong suit, everyone knows that – no, everyone should not know that, in truth. reputations precede those who hold their heads high, even if caustic pretenses bring more finger-flicks to the forehead than the right to patronize. and, so, this places dear ominis to stand in front of professor sharp's desk, verdant uniform a little less than worse for wear (murtlap tentacles are none too kind to dark colors, he's learned) and a look of congealed embarrassment on round features.

"in my defense, professor," well, to be the devil's advocate, is there a need for defenses in the first place? he should be allowed to make mistakes, most certainly – the thought itself brings his lower lip into a pronounced pout, nearly childish. sebastian should have corrected him at the utmost critical time but, alas, best friends are only fellow saboteurs. revenge is only a word, and scissors to snip those autumn curls are only an object. "i, well– i heard the instructions from our book wrong."

perfect execution, dearest gaunt, your siblings would most certainly vote against psychological warfare to taunt your diction. outstanding. he raises a hand and gestures, a method to extract the words that can't seem to unstick themselves from the bottom of his throat.
