frankie first met riley sinclair in the summer of 1983. it’s a running joke among the group that frankie was too strung out back then to remember much of anything , but he remembers the day he met RILEY. he remembers the way morgan would look at him , back when they were just roommates. he remembers how he could feel jealousy radiating from jules , knowing that jules thought he was losing his best friend to some guy.
he remembers the day morgan turned riley , and how everyone just assumed it was for the better. riley was dying , anyway. it was this or nothing. and if there’s one thing frankie knows about morgan , it’s that he can’t stand by and just do NOTHING. so , frankie left morgan be. that was to be the end of a chapter. the start of a new life.
ask anyone , and they’ll tell you frankie’s grown attached to the young vampire. proven in the way riley can sprawl across frankie’s lap , and frankie won’t push him off in disgust. tattooed fingers through the other’s hair , to de - tangle any knots that may snag. they’ve been sitting long enough , in one position , for the sun to begin setting. he’s closed the curtains , too afraid of the rays catching even the smallest hint of riley’s skin.
❝ we’re runnin’ out of reasons , ❞ he murmurs , unprompted ; and surely enough , unexpected , from what he can assume. ❝ but we can’t let go. ❞
