WRITE 'A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GOLD FISH'.
I awake with a flutter, my fins splaying outwards, my tail swishing behind. The light of the sun has reached my little world, and is warming the water up a bit.
I start to swim.
I swim around the other goldfish, stirring her awake.
I swim. We swim.
The giant begins to stir. We swim closer to the surface. We know that when the giant comes, there is usually something to eat near the surface. Sure enough, bits of food sprinkle the top, and we quickly eat what we can. We eat everything. The giant watches us for a bit, and leaves soon after.
Now with food, we swim. I swim. Slower, but we swim.
The sun is much higher and brighter now.
I swim. We swim.
Right at the sun's peak, we are cast into the shade. The water is less warm, but it was almost too hot before. We prefer it like this.
I swim. We swim.
It continues to cool down, and now we scour for bits of food left at the bottom, sifting the rocks. We await the giant's arrival.
I swim. We swim.
The giant arrives, and we swim closer to the surface. We know that when the giant comes, there is usually something to eat near the surface. Sure enough, bits of food sprinkle the surface. We eat everything.
I swim. We swim. A bit slower, but we swim.
The not-sun comes on, brightening the water. It doesn't warm the water as much, but it is closer and brighter.
I swim. We swim.
The not-sun turns off. The giant has been lying down for a while, and begins to breathe much slower. We begin to slow down.
