Hermitage Woods, Stirling.
After my walk up Dumyat on Friday I decided I would try a different route back towards either Bridge of Allan or Stirling, I found an unnamed B road of the Sherrifmuir Road and plumped for that, the road twists and turns as it descends, but I came across a fence with a big hole in it and a wooded are behind, the path behind the fence looked well used so took a gamble and decided to see where it would lead. Before long I saw a couple of folk, one on a mountain bike and a dog walker, so knew I was on a popular place and not going to end up lost.
On walking down hill I saw this old ruin, so climbed the wee incline for a better look. I have since found out that this is Hermitage Woods and is directly behind the University, but unfortunately couldn’t find any info on this. It looks like it could have been some kind of pump-house.
I also found out if I had stuck to the path I would have found Logie Old Kirk ruins, it is earmarked for a return to the area, possibly with my tent and a wild camp out for the night at nearby Cocksburn Reservoir.
