2004 Yarn Drama
Wolsey’s in the paper for knitting This is me pre transition. I’m not sure I have thick enough hair to take dreads these days. Such is the price of testosterone, but it’s a price I happily paid. Funny enough I went to a little yarn shop in my small town and the older boomer-aged ladies recognized me from the paper, probably the dreads, and were MAD! I was told I didn’t deserve to be in the…

Thought this funky #fishblock would be appropriate for #QuiltrCode episode 8. . . Originally I believed this was the only #Manitoulin quilt square west of Gordon township, but have since discovered at least one more specimen in the Silver Water region. . . According to an article from 1933, this quilt block is believed to have come “from the little fishing villages and seacoast towns of Maine where the livelihood of the inhabitants comes from the sea.” . . The pattern is also considered to show “a great deal of imagination and originality.” . . Apparently it can also be related to biblical imagery, which is not my specially. . . But might explain this blocks relation to it’s location and that whole fishes and loaves thing. . . I was actually delighted to relocate this block, as I first noticed it a few years ago and feared that it may have become lost like many other Island blocks. . . Tune in next week for my #stitchnbitch action! (at Elizabeth Bay Road) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLvTLCPFleK/?igshid=64v0crlj32gc

#yarnlovechallenge Day 25 International: Knitting is so international. I know people in other countries, only because of knitting! Here is a photo from a German stitch 'n bitch. Looks familiar. #stitchnbitch #knitfriends #knittersofinstagram #knittersoftheworld #knittersgonnaknit #knittingaddict #knitting_inspiration #knitterslife https://www.instagram.com/p/CHcDmfbJ7ji/?igshid=1onrq9jo4g8dq
I had a lot of fun making this Snoopy (and friends) apron! I made this for my BFF Lauren. THANK TOU for making suggestions and GRADING my #stitchnbitch! Supposedly this towel fabric will fray on the edges and look very cute! I also practiced cutting letters out of fabric. This is like a Laverne and Shirley sweater? #unpreservednebraska (at Omaha, Nebraska) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDuQ2o2HPqB/?igshid=15fp9wvy34whv
I’m now NOT using elastic for adult masks (as my polyester ribbon arrived). If you got a mask from me and need one that ties- let me know? I have a lot of fabric left. PLEASE: Realize that I took on sewing as a semi-new craft project during Covid (after not looking at my sewing box or college crafts in 17 years). I know they don’t look like @kranberry_22’s AWESOME masks. If you want to spend $9, Kristel will make you one (if you look at her Instagram you can see all of the patterns she knows how to make). I know I’m on a learning curve, *and* that all people are different sizes. Send me a message or text if you need a better securing options, and are ok with my #STITCHNBITCH flannel masks. I also have enough Star Wars fabric to make 15 more for kids! (at Omaha, Nebraska) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBBGJQdnOrm/?igshid=1dr7hi1ij1osc
I keep saying that I'm going to start a blog. The closest I've gotten is a journal that I'm scribbling in. My plan was to spend the summer using up my sock yarn stash. But, if I have to be cooped up during a #pandemic #quranatine I might as well have something to do. Plus, it's been raining a lot. This is the first pair. Just a simple pair of toe up socks made with....um.... colorful sock yarn. I roll my yarn into balls when I buy it. So, needless to say the label is long gone. I'm not a fan of sewing & I never really learned how to graft stitches together. So, most of the socks I made (& still make) are toe up & short-row heel. This is the first time I tried a star toe. I also always follow some sort of stitch pattern. It's easier to make 2 socks the same because I count pattern repeats. This yarn wasn't exactly stitch pattern friendly, but it looks pretty cool. Everything I do on the first sock gets written down in my journal & I follow that for the second sock. 😊
