IT WAS DARK OUT. It was cold, too. Those were the first things Eri noticed as she sprinted down the alleyway. She had no idea how she managed this-- a few lucky turns? But she had made it outside quickly and without getting caught. Up ahead...! There..! Eri could see dim lights, colors, buildings, signs-- but no people? She picked up her pace, panting hard and trying to ignore the chill of the night air, and made it all the way so that she was standing in the center of the street. She stops there, snapping her head side to side, still feeling the adrenaline of her escape. Which way does she go? Eri picks one and runs down the empty street for quite a while and then takes a turn down another alley she sees, hoping to hide and catch her breath. She crouches down and leans against the wall, trying to stop panting. A sound comes from the alley she had entered-- she wasn’t alone?! Eri jumps up at it, but falls flat on her behind.
