since you mentioned headcanon suggestions: may and other superhero kids?
the thing is, she’s scared for them. she knows and full well that they can take care of themselves and has seen some that have such tremendous skill and potential but they’re still someone’s kid. they’re fighting to become a family to someone or they’re fighting for the family they have. even that spiderman kid that is everywhere, she knows that he’s doing too much. he’s stretching himself out and she’s worried that his parent, his mother, his uncle, someone out there is concerned when he comes home with too many bruises on his face or a cut on his lip or something that really sticks with her.
she worries about superhero kids, whether they have family or not. she worries about who they go home too and who helps them clean up their bruises and who sings to them through their nightmares and who holds on to their hand and supports them the way they deserve it. these kids risk so much putting themselves out there and fighting for humanity that ( sometimes and often ) are not so grateful and she doesn’t want these kids being in genuine, death like danger to prove their worth.
to may, these kids proved their worth when they took up that icon and mantle of sorts and decided to protect the family, the neighborhood and the people around them.
