STORY IDEAS under the cut!! had some REVELATIONS at work about angry stars and drowned gods
so in my storyverse, there’s this angry star called the Mad Sun that was angry and old even when the universe was new and young. its a massive blue supergiant, burning hatefully in the cold emptiness of space, and i never really knew why it was sentient for seemingly no reason but!! i have a reason now! and it feeds into ARRI ARMISTEAD AND HIS WEIRD URBAN FANTASY STORY
in his world, there is magic alongside technology, but magic comes at a price. magic users face the possibility of becoming Seared (like Asiya) by a being known as Stolsur, the Drowned God. stolsur was once the ruler of both humanity and the tecquel, and though it posed as a loving god, it treated its people as nothing less than slaves, because it wanted subservience first and foremost. it punished the tecquel when they questioned its motives by chaining them against their will and forcing them underground, then turned around and smiled to humanity, telling them nothing was wrong and all was well
humanity, being at that point young and naive, accepted the lies for a great many decades, even going so far as to war against the tecquel who strived to reach the surface again. this went on for decades and decades, the lies, the subservience, the war, the death. until humanity, too, started to question their purpose
stolsur grew cold with them. it had already punished the tecquel for disobeying and it quite liked humanity... when they obeyed. the rest here is a little hazy, i haven’t figured it out yet, but i like the idea that the Justicar comes into the mix somewhow and, alongside humanity and the risen tecquel, banish the god, tear its heart free and separate the immaterial (its heart, mind, and soul) from the material (its physical body)
its heart is flung to the beginning of time, (the Mad Sun!!) while its body is left to rot in space (the drowned god!!), each half angry, hateful, and full of rage that its own creation got the better of it
but this came at a price! because now anyone who delves into the old energy of the universe (magic) bears their soul to the universe, and the drowned god has a keen eye full of hatred. measures are in place, but it will snap and bite and scream hoping to sear anyone who comes into its dark realm. all the while its mind, heart, and soul lays brooding at the beginning of time itself, trapped in the continuous birth of the universe as a brilliant blue supergiant
