A guéridon is a 17th-19th century small to medium round French table or stand originally created for the purpose of holding a candelabrum. They were first made at the court of Louis XIV in the baroque period.

"Pietre dure" or pietra dura is typical of Florence, where it was developed at the end of the 16th century from ancient Roman architectural mosaics, and is still in use today. it's a technique for creating tightly-fitted colored stone mosaic inlay images which are then glued in place; it disseminated quickly around the world by trade and was adapted by the Mughal dynasty in India, most famously in the decoration of the Taj Mahal. It still flourishes in the Indian subcontinent, where it is called parchinkari (Persian: پرچین کاری‎). (source Wikipedia)
