To be fair, there wasn’t much that William knew about the Tsar, but the fact that Katrinka was from Russia meant that the man should be their ally, in a sense. The unknown wasn’t something that William was familiar in and he didn’t know if inviting the man would make the rumors about Russian infiltration in the English court better or worse, but William didn’t think it would hurt to check in and keep an eye on the Tsar just in case. “Are you looking forward to the hunt, your grace?” William asked as he approached the man, his words presented in careful Russian as William made a note to thank Katrinka once again for assisting in his language skills.

Though Eudoxia had once wished to marry the current Tsar, it was not due to personality but due to status and stature alone. It was his title she yearned for, not him. She had made this clear, and yet, such a statement seemed to wedge itself between husband and wife — leaving Eudoxia perplexed and somewhat irritated. What did Konstantin not understand? Did he think that she would not chase pride over anything else? When she met with the Tsar within the rooms held alongside the French, Eudoxia was prepared to make her voice heard. With her head held high, her hands clasped, Eudoxia went to Ivan and peppered her lips into an underlying pout. “Your Imperial Majesty, I must ask — why do we find ourselves beside the French court? Are we not powerful and large enough to hold our own fort?” She asked, refusing to sugar-coat the truth as she looked to Ivan. “Surely the Tsarina is not reason enough for such accommodation. Why, half of Europe has married into one another and they are not housed in one palace… Have you questioned our host?”

To be awarded such an honor -- that’s what he would say about this entire trip, but deep down Vasily had his own personal ideas about a unified peace or whatever it was that this summit was about. Admittedly, he hadn’t the slightly idea why he was there nor what was going on, but own of his greatest skills was putting on a farse. Faking whatever face he needed to was only going to get him closer to his goals, and while dressing his sister in vibrant colors and parading her around was part of that, it could only do so much. After all, she was to be a Tsrarina, not a mistress.

Still, it would take convincing on his part, and friendship alongside trust would make his advise be taken all the more seriously. That was the reason Vasily was filling two glasses to the brim with wine, carrying it towards the Tsar with a broad smile. “ Have a drink with me.” the prince announced, not asking as he set the glass before the Tsar, having not been tempted to poison in until that moment. “I have not yet grown accustom to the taste, but I hope this night will change that.” He smirked. “To you, in this hour of celebration.”
