Sleeping polar bear carving

This stone polar bear fell asleep after a successful hunting with a full belly, didn't even bother to clean its fur.

That's the humorous way to explain the blood like red spots in the stone.

The true story however is that, alabaster is just a white dull stone in raw state, it shows any inclusion only when polished. This stone is a Spanish alabaster, most of the time there's some color clouds in it. We (carvers) call it nature's gift. Some find it, it's the defect, while others say the beauty of the stone.

The carving is a sleeping polar bear, hand carved with standard hand tools, polished with water base sand papers to 2000 grit. Sealed and buffed with natural non toxic bee wax. It's my original carving, signed and dated.

Hand chiseled medium size polar bear figurine, carved from a self collected Texada island British Columbia natural marble stone. The raw surface finish is the imitation of the bear’s fur. Due to the nature of the stone, a few dark brown spot shows, what couldn’t be carved out without loosing the shape. The stone is one solid piece no cracks or chips on it, brand new original carving, signed and dated. Authentication certificate attached with the purchase.
