420 wasn’t always a holiday.
It actually started as a code used by a group of California teens in the early 1970s.
They’d meet up at 4:20 PM after school, and over time “420” spread through cannabis culture until it became what it is today.
Now 4/20 is recognized almost everywhere as the unofficial cannabis holiday.
A random meetup code turned into a whole culture moment.
