Stoney’s - Tempe’s best kept secret.

Do you ever wish there was a place where you could shop and relax while interacting with your community? Where you can go for something you want and leave with something you need but to a level only manifested in sitcoms or indie movies? Such a place exists for those of us that dare to dream or at least refuse to wake up. This place is Stoney’s.

Patrick O’Keefe and Kyle Schafer opened Stoney’s on July 9th, 2016. Located at 6465 S. Rural Rd in Tempe, Arizona, this retro, blue-collar clothing store houses almost as many historical items as t-shirts. From hollowed out grenades dating back to WWII, to metal castings dating back even further, as well as a full suit of armor are just a few of the things you can find while you soak up the carefully cultivated vibe of Stoney’s. The name as well as the inspiration for the majority of what you see in the store comes from Patrick’s grandfather, Stoney. A huge fan of motorcycles, art, and working with his hands, the original Stoney had his own shop and even planned on opening a second location. When he passed and left his vast collection of museum worthy artifacts behind to Patrick & his best friend Kyle (who, in honor of Patrick’s grandfather, took up the moniker of Stoney and passed it down to his first born, Stone). While going through the vast collection of items and fueled by nostalgia, feeling the same spark that Stoney undoubtedly felt, the two long time friends decided to use what he left behind and build something themselves but more importantly they wanted to build something Stoney would be proud of, something real, something they made themselves; so they made it. Almost everything you see in the shop was built or put together by hand and they aren't done yet. Plans for pop-up shops, niched events, and local business collaborations are in the works. The shop is always changing and evolving to better suit the wants and needs of the community it resides in. Anything from a new garment to a new piece of furniture might be added or they might even open up an area for drinks and host open mic nights (they’ve done it before).

The clothing you can find at Stoney’s is high quality from ethical brands. Roark Revival, Richer Poorer, Otis, and Chaser are just a few of the choice brands that they carry along with a their own Stoney’s brand (which just happens to be their most popular brand). They also carry a brand like Ten Trees, which plant ten trees for every article of clothing sold and this echoes what the owners are all about, doing good things. They see their brand as an ever evolving entity that centers not around profits and losses but around fulfillment and community. They don't want to just be the place you get your clothes, they want to be the place you go when you cant figure out what to do, when you need to have a chill night out, or even just need to find out how to do something around the house or start up a new project, chances are they can help you out or they might just know someone who can. The Stoney’s community is a big one and its only getting bigger.
