robin fans get into formation 🥳🥳🥳!!!! truly could see robin or peter as closer as well if it wasn’t for the manuscript

I can see that! To me, The Manuscript is the perfect closer for the album BECAUSE it takes us right back to the beginning of where the topline story of TTPD originated in a way, and it's a bookend/chapter close.

THAT BEING SAID, Robin is sooooooooo important to me. Not only because I find it beautiful and ethereal and soothing, but because it's the foil to so many of the ways Taylor/the narrator's innocence and youth and hopefulness is preyed upon throughout the entire album. We have nearly 30 songs about how the dreams of her youth her chipped away at and manipulated and sent her into darker and darker places, and then in contrast we have this song about adults protecting that innocence for a child they love dearly, creating magic for them in a world that is certain to rip it away at some point. To me, it's like the hope in Robin is that the child will grow into their adulthood and realize all these things when they're ready, which again, is the contrast to the ways in which that innocence was taken from Taylor, in some ways against her will.

Anyway, I stan both Robin and Peter here and will defend them to the ends of the earth 🫡
