Today at work I had to watch Terminator Salvation(twice) and Sugar Hill to make sure the disc didn’t skip. All while managing shit...It gets better
Time to Stop Feeling Sorry for Myself
My new artistic goal is to stop feeling sorry for myself. At the back of my mind, I've always felt like if only I had been "given" a bit more artistic talent, then I would have no fears about pursuing art as a career. I look at other people who are better than me and think they want it less or practice less, why can't I have a bit of their talent? (In reality, I know nothing about their dreams or practice time)
So my goal is to stop thinking like this. To stop feeling sorry for myself because it's not doing anyone a lick of good.
I don't know if artistic skill is something anyone is born with or if it's something you just have to develop. Regardless, here are some skills I know I have that can help me succeed in art:
Excellent research and study skills, to learn about the craft
Persistence, even in difficult tasks
Motivation and drive to study art
A genuine love and enthusiasm for all things art
At least the foundations of artistic knowledge and experience, if not more
It seems to me that the only thing standing between me and an art career is practice.
And practice is something I have full control over.
