Stand up, speak up
Girls who are embarrassed from being stuck in awkward situations created by boys, don't be afraid. We feel embarrassed and awkward because that's what the society has imposed on us. It's him who should be embarrassed if a girl refuses to give her number. It's him who should be embarrassed if a girl doesn't want to be close to him. It's him who should be embarrassed if a girl slaps him for being a dick. We shouldn't be embarrassed of these things anymore. Especially in South Asian countries the culture imposes many restrictions on girls and expects them to be under boys. We have to change it. Me and my friend shared the taxi with a guy from our college. It was raining and he was alone so we helped him. Me calling you for sharing a taxi isn't a sign for me wanting to flirt with you. It's just we are nice people and a little penny pinchers. He kept on flirting to me even though I cut off the conversation. I don't have problem with people flirting to me but don't do it when the other party isn't interested. It's not flirting it's harassment. When he asked for the number I said I won't give. I don't care what my friend will think. I don't care what the taxi driver will think. I care about myself and my safety. So girls, when a unknown guy asks you for your number don't give it if you don't want to. Don't worry that he may judge you. If he judges it's not the end of the world. Boys try to intimidate girls so that their own embarrassment won't be seen. Stand up for yourself. If a guy wants a hug in public refuse it. If you don't want close contact with him he doesn't have right to demand it. If a guy is rubbing against you in bus get away from him. We have to start speaking. We have our voice. We won't let anyone steal it. We will use it. Together we are strong.
