Posted @withregram • @redfishstream Today we remember the victims of the Bhopal gas leak, known as the world's worst industrial disaster, which killed thousands and exposed over half a million people to toxic gas around this time in 1984. The disaster reportedly resulted from negligence, design flaws, understaffing, absence of maintenance, and lack of training. Normal measures that should've been taken weren't, just to increase profits at the expense of people's safety. The first official and conservative death toll was 2,259, but other estimates have put the number as high as 20,000.
