It was among the first *acts done to* our newly enslaved ancestors. ✔️ Their names were changed to European names. ✔️ Families were split up and sold to different plantations. ✔️ They were forbidden to speak in their native tongue. ✔️ They were forbidden to learn to read English or write English. ✔️ They were forced to adopt Eurocentric Christianity and a *wh(i)te Jesus.* To round out *the deed*— ✔️ The Ethiopian Ocean was renamed the Atlantic Ocean. ✔️ Arabia and certain countries in Africa were renamed *the Middle East.* ⬆️ Research the relevance of those connections. For over 400 years, there have been clear acts of ❗️wh(i)te-washing #history ❗️suppressing history ❗️denying history ❗️manipulating history ❗️lying about history When our ancestors first disembarked from the “slave ships,” their true names were recorded in ledgers.
