An early stage of lighting test. One of the features I like about this character is the burn mark around his heart. We changed a bit of the lighting and camera angle later on. The shortest shot inbetween 2D scenes-- a fun experiment trying to make the film composition as close as possible to our storyboard (created by Director @ebc_ink ) The coals are pink foams covered with light-grey acrylic paint. Painting on set. Made an experiment by wrinkling kraft paper to add visual interest to the ground. Used gouache to create stronger texture on the Paper Coals. Every objects are half-build. Some process of Mockup -> Fabrication -> Shooting. Like the puppet, the set is built from wire and paper. Our references were shoot before the lockdown-- We found a playground that quite fit for the climbing scene's layout. Thanks a lot to my partner who explored the neighborhood with me and was so patient with me during the process. By the way... rock climbing is super fun!
