I think fear is often a representation of guilt; you fear it because you know you deserve it. More often than not, I find my fears to be rooted less in fact and are moreso a representation of my lack of self-worth; I think things will hurt me because I deserve to be hurt, I'll fail because I'm not good enough, etc. This is why I make a point to do things that scare me, because I don't want to earn a life lived in fear.
