It’s been an impossibly hard day, and Finn’s having a hard time figuring out how he’s still on his feet, how he’s still even breathing. The boy’s hands shake everytime he brings them up to wipe the sweat from his forehead, because even though it’s night, this hell-holeof a desert is still sweltering.

His first reaction as she wraps her arms around his waistis to push her away, because he doesn’t have time to think about this, he doesn’t time to enjoy the little thingsthat make him feel like a human being, because he’s dying,they’re all dying, and they need to focus on the goal, theyneed to get to the safe haven, they need to find the cure.

But all of this seems to abandon Finn’s mind as she givesa little squeeze around his midsection and it’s like the floodgates open up, and before he knows what he’s doing,Finn’s turned around so he can wrap his arms around hershoulders, and the tears are already coming but since he’sgot his face buried in her hair, the only hint that he’s cryingat all is in the harsh jerks of his shoulders and the littlegasps of despair that leave him whenever he comes backup for air.
