*** UPDATE ON ROFCON: PLEASE READ *** Its been almost 24 hours since I discussed the situation pertaining what happened during ROFCON over the weekend and the amount of responses were more than I imagined. Someone has personally contacted me and said that the situation is being investigated and will be sure to never happen again at any future conventions. Whatever is being discussed is not to my knowledge and have no clue what the final say will be. I know this situation has changed the feelings of those who now have no intention of attending in the future, however, I do want you all to know my post was not to bash the convention in any shape or form. Whether you all choose to continue to attend ROFCON or any local convention in the future is completely YOUR choice. I'm not afraid to speak up about an issue, unnoticed or not, and I won't hesitate to do so. I greatly appreciate everything that you all did to bring attention to this situation whether it was sharing the post around on here, Tumblr, and Twitter or contacting the convention staff via e-mail. It's amazing to see how much of an impact an individual or group of people can have when they let their voice(s) be heard.

This past weekend I decided to spend my afternoon and evening after work with some friends to attend a local convention in my area called ROFCON, a family orientated convention that I may add. While my time at ROFCON itself was mediocre, it has been brought to my attention that a close friend of mine was greatly affected by an act of ignorance that occurred and this is something that I can't let slide and must bring attention to. It has been said that the staff was doing the Sieg Heil Nazi salute all weekend shouting her family's last name and several of the AMS staff had the audacity to walk up to her and do it in her face. For those who attended, the majority of the staff who participated in this wore orange armbands (Regular staff) and some wore red armbands (Lead staff). Apparently asking for them to apologize to her father was too much to ask that he ended up leaving the AMS Department because he was uncomfortable and angry. Can you blame for someone for feeling that way? NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. The Chairman, Vice Chairsman, and Division Heads of HR all know about it, but NOTHING is going to be done about it and everyone gets to keep their spots. The only response from the higher ups was "we told them to stop" and yet, they STILL continued to do it and are now laughing about such a touchy subject. I don't know what I'm more baffled and disgusted by: the fact that it's too much to ask for an in person apology to her father  from the AMS leads (Department Head, Second, and all Shift Captains) or the fact that staff members were told to stop instead of properly reprimanding them for their actions.    Though I may not be Jewish myself, I do know what it feels like to be a target to others, especially pertaining to racism and I will not stand to see my friend, her family, and many others to be a target for your entertainment. I have an open mind when it comes to humor, but this is completely unacceptable.    Until this issue is addressed and resolved, I will not be giving ROFCON any of my support for the future. All I ask of you all is to share this post around so the owners of the convention address this situation to my friend, her family, and others properly.
