thunderstorm grounding
a grounding exercise for storm witches or those who feel most comfortable watching a thunderstorm and hearing the wind howl.
1. sit someplace safe but with a view of the thunderstorm. sure you can sit outside if you really want to feel connected to the rain and wind the please ensure that you won’t get struck by lightning or fall sick.
2. get comfortable and:
take a deep breath. take the rich sweet smell of the earth, the stripping tang of the ozone, the musky fresh smell of the rain, take all of it into your lungs and feel the storm inside your chest, inside you.
feel the wind rushing to meet you, the cool touch of it on your skin, the sheer power and fluidity of the air, how free and wild it can be. visualize the wind peeling the stale energy off and carrying it far far away from you.
hear the drumming of the rain against every surface. how it claps on the floor and taps on the windows, the rushing of water to fill the earth.
feel the thunder crackling and rumbling and rolling across the sky. feel it rumble all the way to your core, feel it shake you up and fill you with energy.
every time the lightning streaks across the sky, feel every bolt charging you up and sending the energy flashing through your veins.
you are now one with the storm.
3. sit and watch the storm as a cool-down, let it dissipate. or if you feel like you’ve done enough grounding, let the energy inside you settle and get up quietly and leave.
