What will become of Jupiter's Great Red Spot? Gas giant Jupiter is the solar system's largest world with about 320 times the mass of planet Earth. Jupiter is home to one of the largest and longest lasting storm systems known, the Great Red Spot (GRS), visible to the left. The GRS is so large it could swallow Earth- but it has been shrinking. Comparison with historical notes indicate that the storm spans only about one third of the exposed surface area it had 150 years ago. NASA's Outer Planets Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) program has been monitoring the storm more recently using the Hubble Space Telescope. The featured Hubble OPAL image shows Jupiter as it appeared in 2016, processed in a way that makes red hues appear quite vibrant. Modern GRS data indicate that the storm continues to constrict its surface area, but is also becoming slightly taller, vertically. No one knows the future of the GRS, including the possibility that if the shrinking trend continues, the GRS might one day even do what smaller spots on Jupiter have done -- disappear completely.

૮꒰˶ - ˕ -꒱ა fluffier headcanons this time 𖹭𖹭𖹭

tw(s): discussion of scars at the end and stigmatophilia (sexual attraction to people who have physical marks or body modifications)

𖹭 Jack (child) enjoys playing board games with you. He only likes the simple ones. If he gets too frustrated then he hugs you and starts crying until the feeling passes. He doesn't like tag or hide-n-go seek. Those upset him the most because it reminds their body of the military drills they were put through.

When Ivan isn't being an asshole he can be very sweet to the Storm System. He'll let Jack play with his hair and climb all over him. He'll be quiet and give him space because he knows he's done enough to make Jack distrust him. Ivan keeps his uniform and weapons far away from him (and you).

𖹭 Movie nights are a must. Jack (adult) always wants to watch either the Godzilla or King Kong movies. Yall have had to sit through a marathon of them a minimum of three times. Ivan is a sucker for black-and-white movies, especially romance or spy ones. He tries to occasionally sneak old pornos in there. They'll watch whatever movies you want to watch as well. Just don't expect them to be quiet. Ivan and Jack (adult) always lovingly bicker about the movies you watch together.

𖹭 You each have your separate rooms and beds, but Ivan is always sleeping in yours. He enjoys sleeping on top of you and starts whining if you tell him to get off you. He's incredibly clingy in his sleep. You try to move but you have a Russian twink wrapped around you like a baby animal.

Raiden stands in the doorway―accidentally menacing―staring at your bed. He doesn't lay in bed with you unless you invite him. Sometimes he just enjoys watching you sleep. He's hesitant to cuddle either of you. Eventually he'll wrap around you, almost always big spoon. He drools in his sleep because he sleeps so well around you. Be aware of that.

𖹭 Ivan is always using the beauty and bathroom products that you and Raiden use. He'll throw out anything that he deems subpar and replace it with something better (more expensive). This is good for Raiden. He has no idea what bath products are good and bad. He just washes himself and he's done. As much as you love Raiden, you're going to have to tear that 12-in-1 shampoo from his hands. He's used to it. He doesn't want to change.

Ivan loves being bathed.

Raiden enjoys having someone shampoo his hair and wash it out. He's weak to scalp scratches.

𖹭 Scar kisses !!

Ivan is incredibly touchy in general. He has stigmatophilia. This means that he especially loves to be all over Raiden. You'll have to save Raiden from the embarrassment. His face is completely red as Ivan traces Raiden's identifiers (scars and other body modifications).

Ivan is quite proud of his, to mask the insecurity he has about not having a perfectly "clean" body. He knows the story to every single one, like they're a reminder of sins he can't wash away. When he gets positive attention from either you or Raiden it makes him feel like he's never failed at all. His body is worth loving. He's worth loving.

They like any piercings you may have, making sure that you take proper care of them. If the piercing is big enough then Ivan will ask if he can feel it, amazed by how the body can stretch.

Ivan always wants you to have your tattoos showing, if you have any. He wants matching tattoos! Raiden is hesitant. Bad memories resurface that he tucks away. He's still amazed that ink markings can be good things. Most people choose them.

If you let them, they'll kiss and/or trace over any scars you have. Ivan is a sucker for keloid and hypertrophic (raised) scars. He likes how they feel and the fact that he can bite down on them a little (if you let him). It's more of him kissing them and then licking them. A little odd, yes, but he just adores you. They like to trace over flat scars. Ivan enjoys the texture of contracture (burn) scars. Raiden enjoys when you sit in his lap so he can trace over them mindlessly, a reminder that he's not as alone as he feels.

Is there a specific shipname for them? I honestly have no idea so I'll make one up. Ivden. I can't think of anything better. I'm also calling them the morally grey polycule because I definitely think before darling they more or less allowed each other to have romantic relationships with other people that they usually didn't get involved in.

ᡣ𐭩 These two dumbasses cannot decide if they love or hate each other.

ᢉ𐭩 Ivan is so obsessed with pushing Raiden's metaphorical buttons and watching him switch. He definitely loves Ripper just because it'll put him in his place. Raikov absolutely adores being marked by his partners so being bruised by them is no different. He'd go as far as to say he likes being physically abused because he craves the attention. He doesn't want to fight back. He wants to feel all the pain and strife he causes the system.

ᢉ𐭩 Ivan also loves cuddling up to Raiden and apologizing for being such an asshole. He learned his lesson and he won't do it again. (He will). More often than not he'll be apologizing to either Ripper or Snake. Snake doesn't take his shit. He doesn't even like Ivan. Ripper likes Ivan as a tool to use. They like to use him as an (unhealthy) coping mechanism.

ᢉ𐭩 They're on opposite sides of the job environment. Ivan works for Volgin in some secret Russian stuff that Raiden does his best to ignore. He's got more important things to take care of. They have a lot of fights about the personal nature of what they do. They promise not to bring it into the bedroom, but they do.

Raiden never sleeps with Ivan for this reason. Sex is just fine, but he has his own place he goes to when he wants to sleep. Ivan respects Raiden's boundary of his own bedroom and what will happen if Ivan breaks that boundary, for the most part. Really, Ivan is just scared that he'll cross a line that's too forbidden, leading to Raiden losing interest in him.

ᢉ𐭩 The Storm System adores you, but they have more than a complicated relationship with Ivan. That's where Ivan's insecurity stems from. What if they realize you're better for them than him? What if they take you away and he never sees you again? Originally Ivan wasn't even into you all that much. It was (adult) Jack latching onto you that peaked Ivan's interest. Ivan had only met Jack once, yet he seems to front a lot more around you. Ivan just wanted to get to know you so he could use you against them, but he ended up becoming just as attached to you.

ᡣ𐭩 The disagreements never stop about how to treat you when it comes down to it. They both vastly differ in their approaches.

ᢉ𐭩 Jack knew you first and bonded with you in a way he hadn't expected. He became comfortable around you, which felt good because of his past abusive relationships. He got too attached and clingy, reassuring himself that this was okay for him to do. He's still treating you right! He's keeping you safe. He's only restricting your freedoms some.

ᢉ𐭩 Ivan is much more pushy and aggressive. He'll quickly learn if he'll be your little bitch or if you'll put him in his place like he deserves. Either way he'll take up all your time and take you away from Raiden. He'll play the "I'm going to self-harm/kill myself" if you don't pay attention to me card. It's really a ploy. He'll hurt himself but only because he gets off on it.

Jack may also say this, but he's not doing it to purposefully manipulate you. He'll actually do it and mean it. Even if you try to explain that that's unfair of him to say, he'll either start crying more, shutdown, or actually go harm himself in hopes that you'll stop him. Although, usually, someone else stops him and he doesn't front for a while. Tempest may apologize to you, but she wants you to stay with them just as bad as Jack does.

ᡣ𐭩 Ivden's relationship further complicates it. All the trauma, abuse, and some type of love that keeps them connected yet so far apart.

Whether it be a child darling or a darling who regresses/gets stuck in a younger headspace, they'll take care of em'.

I imagine it isn't very peaceful. It's like "Can you close your eyes, sweetie? Your father and I are having an argument." Then they proceed to beat the shit out each other.

Mutual custody? Nah, sporadic kidnapping. Like neither of them want to explain to you their enemies with benefits situation, so they just steal you from the other.

Vamp isn't exactly sure how to be a good father. All he knows is that you're precious and he wants to protect you. You give him a reason to enjoy living. So his sadomasochist tendencies kind of just tuck themselves away in the back of the corner.

They're [Vamp] definitely just has that parental instinct in him. He's spent so much of his life killing that even it surprises them.

They don't want you to see blood, but they also don't want you to be afraid of it. If you get a scrape or a boo boo he'll tell you that it's okay and you're strong for getting through it. He never had that growing up. He was on his own. Now they can give you that support.

Raiden usually isn't fronting when you're around. He mainly deals with Vamp and most things that are deemed a threat to you. He's still there, of course, but Snake and Tempest are better at caring for darling than he is.

Snake likes you teach you a lot of things. It's all age appropriate. He just loves telling you facts and being there for you as a stable adult figure. If you like being active then he's totally the person for that. He especially loves fishing and taking you to aquariums (when their job permits it). You don't have to worry about the scary things because they, as in the system, got you! He definitely worries too much. He's incredibly overprotective and doesn't mind burying a few bodies.

Tempest is such a softie and loves doing anything artsy with you. She's very good at deciphering your mood and helping you when you feel down. Her favorite thing to do with you is parallel play. She's sitting, trying to do whatever paperwork Jack has yet to fill out, as you color/sleep/watch a movie- or anything else! She also has the mom glare. She doesn't get physical but one of the others will definitely "fix" the problem later.

Very good dads. You don't really see their yandere tendencies unlike the platonic yandere evil polycule. Vamp just sees you as a precious thing that needs to be cared for. The Storm System is incredibly careful with you because they haven't really taken care of a child before, and they aren't even good with their bio one.
