Imagine Romms reaction to Kael coming back though, for me that'd be the only thing that'd make it worth it

It starts with accusations of fakery, possibly some sort of sexy magic duel, during which Rommath realises that only the real Kael’thas could be fighting like this. He’s angry, disbelieving, hopeful, angry at himself for being hopeful, resulting in either tight-jawed brusqueness as he holds himself in, or an ItSotS-style breakdown. And if returned Kael is aghast at the deal his previous self made with Kil’jaeden, well, he’s going to want to comfort his most loyal and dedicated servant/friend/lover, and all of Rommath’s old feelings come oozing out like he never wanted. AND if Rommath is currently seeing Lor’themar, TROUBLE. CONFLICT.

I like to think that Rommath would choose Lor’themar, but I’m crying either way. You monster.

You’re definitely trying to kill me. And also making me want to write this. They were together for SO LONG and Kael was Rommath’s LIFE and now he’s back for a second chance??? And Rommath’s had long enough to come to terms with Kael’s betrayal and how insidious Kil’jaeden can be, so he’s angry, but in the way a parent is when their kid nearly kills themselves doing something stupid. Poor Kael has rarely seen Rommath lose it so completely and doesn’t quite know what to do other than hold him firmly in place and murmur platitudes, and afterwards Rommath is stiff and awkward until he relaxes enough to grill Kael on the workings of his resurrection and Science and Magic.

I’m so glad I’m currently consumed with my current WIP because otherwise I would totally be writing a Catholic Rommath fic in the form of a first-person confession and I’d be going straight to hell
