Thoughts on the the storming of the capitol from someone who lives in DC.
We all know about Wednesday’s tragic events but I have to say experiencing the chaos whilst living in DC was surreal.
DC is such a liberal bubble. Especially near the capitol. I was shocked that not more was done to stop the violence. Secondly, the scariest part of the violence was that I know people who work in the capitol. The thought of losing a friend due to white supremacist violence is a notion that has had me sick the past few days. It really put the entire situation into perspective for me. Its crazy that right wing individuals are so willing to fight for their strange fabricated perception of freedom that they will kill innocent civilians just trying to make a living and do their jobs.
