((@phoenixrachelsummers)) Clutching her stuffed bunny a teary eyed Rachel padded her way into her parents room. She had had a bad dream and neither she or Bunny wanted to be alone. Her Mommy was still asleep and Rachel scrambled up onto the bed. Not willing to wake her mother up she crawled into the space nearest to her mother and cuddled up against her. Clutching Bunny she closed her eyes.
Jean knew it was early morning when she felt the familiar tug of duvet underneath her, with practised ease the red-headed mutant’s slender fingers found the young girl’s hair and began stroked affectionately. Her eyes were still closed due to the fact the newly risen sun but expertly she untucked herself from the soft, warm confines of her bed and allowed Rachel — and Bunny, to shuffle in. With a pleased smile on her face, the older woman wrapped her arms around the scared girl and whispering cooed promises into her ear.
“You’re safe now, Rachel; Mommy’s got you.”
