I've been working on some world building lately and wanted to share my drawings with you all!!
It first started at a story based in modern time with a shapeshifter similar to Loki the Norse god of mischief. I started designing some landmarks for the story and even designed a map! However, as I was creating all of this it hit me. What if i set this story in old Japan, specifically the Edo Period (aka the Tokugawa Period) from 1603 - 1868.
So I did! (Forgive me if I get any names, pronunciation, information or spelling is incorrect) The setting changed from a made up city and forest to Kyoto Japan in the Tokugawa Period.
The shapeshifter changed from a made up creature into a Yokai called a Bakeneko, bah-keh-NEH-koh, a cat like creature that has the ability to shapeshift.
The landmarks changed to be real life places! The Nijo Castle, the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, and the Fushimi Castle! In my drawings of these places I wrote some facts.
My main protagonists also changed to fit the setting and era!
I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I do and have while creating this! I'm so excited to be finished all my world building so I can eventually get into writing my story, and hopefully illustrating it!
If there is anything I got wrong or that you would like me to include into this please let me know and I will fix my mistakes and even potentially add your ideas to my world!
