It started out as a sketch prompt and then I got carried away...
I really like drawing these two together ^^ Their age difference is similar to my brother and I, and I feel like that kind of age gap creates a special type of friendship between siblings. (It did for me, at least) I should draw these two more often...
I’ve been seeing the “art ten years ago vs now” thing doing the rounds again so.... guess I’ll contribute this time.
To finish off the decade... here goes:
*cringes* 2009 (might’ve been 2008, can’t say for sure)
2019
Guess what... it’s the same character x’D
(.......guess what..... I still haven’t written her story >.>”)
I was really new to manga/anime in 2009... gosh, that feels like a lifetime ago xD I was never an “artist”. My sibling was the artist in the family, and to everyone who knew us both, my art was just “a bad imitation”. It was considered “cute”, in the way that a small child’s drawings are cute, not because it’s good but because a small child made it in imitation of something else (being the youngest of my family/friend group, I was usually treated like a kid no matter how old I was...)
I didn’t have any other artist friends growing up (or, heck, any other friends who liked anime and manga hardly). I had only one person as a reference, and the only message I got from that person and from everyone who saw both our art was that my art was bad.
To the few people who did encourage me, thank you. I probably wouldn’t have kept drawing if it weren’t for you all. Which means, I wouldn’t have started my comic if it weren’t for you all.
Thanks, and here’s to another ten years of art improvement (and more comics! :D)
And so the adventure begins, with ominous foreshadowing and a hawk’s rear end.
Meet Link’s faithful companion, a very friendly hawk who acts like a cat half the time and might be slightly retarded.
Link seems to always be sleeping at the beginning of his adventure, so I could hardly start my story any other way. And... well, the beginning of Skyward Sword might possibly have inspired the bird-in-the-face part :p
