Hi, gang. I’m a bit slow on the prompts again this week (hello, spring!) but for those of you still looking for some guidance how about:

Is it important to build diverse work teams? If so, why?

How can design engage the greatest number of people?

How do you, personally, approach equity in your work/school/life?

What are some preconceptions that you’ve shed this week?

How do you practice empathy?

AND a process prompt: How can your team PROTOTYPE your design concept? How can you use this prototype to test your idea?

I really enjoyed hearing all of you present your first project. This week, I’d love to know:

REFLECTION PROMPTS

What makes a problem compelling?

How can you present your ideas in a compelling way?

How could you have had more fun with it?

How could you thought about it differently?

Where are you making changes in how you approach problems in other parts of your life?

PROCESS PROMPTS:

If you were to map your creative process, what would it look like?

What would be the next steps in your concept’s development?

How would you respond to your own design brief?

Weekly Prompts

Hi, everyone. Hope your creative juices are churning. This week, I’m curious to know:

How are you rethinking the idea of a ‘problem?’

What assumptions or pre-conceptions have you challenged this week?

What is it like to leave mental space for other people to find the solution?

Where else in your life/work/play are you asking “what if...”?

What does your creative space look like?

How are you building healthy collaborations?

Process Prompts:

When you’ve developed an idea for your design challenge, figure out how you’re going to collect ideas, insight, information around that problem. Who are you going to talk to? Where, when, and how?

Some tools might be interviews, surveys, observations, and market research/precedents. Make a plan and EXECUTE.

How have you ideated on your concept? Can you draw or diagram your brainstorming process?

Reflection Prompts

Everybody! If you’re looking for some last-minute reflection ideas, tell me: 

Where do you spend time in public space? How do you use it?

How do you know what’s OK and what isn’t OK to do there?

Who owns that space? How is (or isn’t) its ownership equitable, or democratic?

How can design influence equity, and vice versa?

How do we talk about disparity in resource allocation in terms of design?

What did you think of that protest? How would you reconsider the way you designed a demonstration based on what you saw?

How can you use the tools of your profession to redesign spaces (real or digital) for social interaction?
