The news of another mass stranding at Farewell Spit is enough to upset anyone, but it’s especially crushing to anyone who’s ever attending one of these events.

Hearing the whales calling to each other on the beach is so distressing, I don’t know that I could do it if it wasn’t for the fact that sometimes, just sometimes, we get some back to the water and they survive.

It’s so hard, but that’s gotta be worth it.

These guys always have a beautiful sound; they self-describe as Urban Folk, Folk Rock, Blues.  I would add Progressive Folk to that. =D

Humans tend stranded Orca for 6 hours until tide comes back in

“The fortunate Orca apparently became stuck on some rocks just off the coast of British Columbia in Canada on Wednesday morning (23 July 2015).”

“One man spotted the distressed whale, and he called a group, The Guardians from Hartley Bay, who traveled to the site to try and help.”

“The rescuers brought in a water pump to help keep the whale wet and also covered the mammal with damp sheets.”

“It took six hours, but the whale was finally freed when the tide rose enough, and the group shared an image of it back safely in the water.”
