Strange Relations!
This is where it begins to go badly for all of us, Londo? This?? Because up until now it's all been roses?
Kind of amazing that Babylon 5 doesn't end up with broken bits of station like this more often, to be honest.
"I'm not stealing," says Lyta. "This stuff was all earmarked for the lurkers in Downbelow. Charity cases." So she's stealing from the charity pot? That doesn't seem better.
Byron is such a twat. "It was a parable." You're not Jesus, Byron, you're just a prick with an elaborate haircare regime.
Given what's being implied here about Lochley and Sheridan's history, it must be really weird for her to go around calling him 'sir'.
"You gave the telepaths permission to set up a colony here. You did not, however, grant them immunity from prosecution." I think maybe Sheridan should consider an apology, or even just working with Lochley here? Rather than just saying, "it's your job, sucks to be you?"
Everyone is weirdly chill about the mass murder that just happened. Presumably there were other people on the liner who are now all dead.
I really enjoy how much Walter Koenig is enjoying playing Bester here.
The confrontation between Lochley and Garibaldi is very well done. Though I did laugh at "how many wives has he got?" "Just three". That's quite a lot of wives! He's level-pegging with Londo.
So Earth Dome is backing Bester and the Psi Corps to the hilt. Have there even been new elections yet? Or has the "Acting" President just fully taken over?
It really strikes me how little democracy there is anywhere in this series. Earth's democracy is falling over. None of the major alien races appears to have a democratic government - not the Centauri, nor the Minbari, nor (I think?) the Narn. The new Interstellar Alliance has a President but he was appointed, not elected. Babylon 5 itself has a population of 250,000 but it's run by the Earth military; the aliens on board have no representation beyond their ambassadors. And no one seems to think this is a problem.
I should probably be sympathetic with Byron who has done nothing to deserve this, but he annoys me so much that I might be on Bester's side here.
I'm not convinced by the symbolism of G'Kar acting as - let's face it - Londo's servant.
A 60-day quarantine period for space travellers does not sound like the sort of thing that one doctor should be able to impose without consultation. That could have serious implications for interplanetary trade.
Handy this time, obviously.
Is Byron eventually going to get called out for running what's essentially a cult? And are we ever going to find out more about why they refuse technology?
