Have you ever seen the Sims 2 Console speedrums where one of the key strats is to get everyone into a hot tub and block off all the exits so they're a sourcr of fun, hygiene, comfort, and social? Or sending sims you don't want to play to bed and blocking the entry so they just go comatose?
Nope! But the hot tub idea is actually pretty good and I dunno why I didn't think about it myself! I'll have to try it when I'm playing the game again. (Currently trying to 100% it... it takes a while lol!)
I did discover something while playing The Sims 2 Console and it pretty much applies to every Sims game I've tried (even the PC ones) and this is to never use double speed / the fast forward functions. This is because when you do, your sim's needs actually drain faster than they would on normal speed. Thus, the fast forward function actually causes tasks to take longer because you have to stop the action and cater to their needs. (srsly! when I stopped using the fast forward function, I was able to get their skills up much faster! Like on speed, a sim couldn't even get their skill up one before needing something. Without speed, they can get it up a couple points before needing something)
Hell, one of the reasons I used to not like Bustin' Out nearly as much as the others is because their needs are so tedious, they go down so quickly, and it makes the game very difficult. But when I don't use any of the speed functions? It's actually not nearly as bad lol.
Of course, this requires patience. But I just recommend looking at social media or other stuff while your sim is completing the task.
Though, that may not help a "speedrun" -- but it will help in normal play throughs if you just want your sim to be more efficient.
