Hi can you actually answer the question about strapless binders instead of linking to an old post with entirely wrong information?

hi, if our information is outdated, you can write us and let us know that we have outdated information politely.  We get hundreds of repeat questions despite our policy of requesting everyone to do a search first.  Our current policy is that we don’t even answer repeat questions (we delete), so it’s surprising that we even linked to an old post without a specific request  along the lines of “hi, i saw this old post with outdated information, can  you update it?”

Our blog has been around for years.  information changes.  what might have been cutting edge science when we started might be disproven tomorrow, or new techniques come along.  websites go out of business or change links.  They offer different items for sale.   Let us know if links don’t work or information isn’t accurate, but let us know respectfully: this blog is 100% volunteer-run by two remaining moderators (out of more than 10 when we started) who both have full-time commitments and disabling health conditions.  We are overwhelmed with the work but we also are passionate about it.  

To answer your question: here’s a link to a page with a strapless binder that’s been vetted by trans folks (that aren’t me, so i can’t speak to it).  i found it by googling “strapless binder.”  There are several others that i haven’t vetted if you do the same search- they may or may not be appropriate for long term or all day binding.

So while looking for websites for a chest binder I saw this.

The top one is NOT ok. Its almost like ace bandages.

The bottom one is for one’s that are OK to wear.

Hello! In our admittedly limited testing, strapless binders only work for people with very little to compress – for everyone else, it just rolls down.

If we do ever engineer a strapless binder that works for everyone – because that’s really our goal, there are already plenty of binders out there that only work for a small pool of people – then we will let you guys know and put it up on the store.

Hi :)) Not sure if you're the right person/people to ask but if anyone could help that'd be great Im looking for binders and I was wondering how well strapless binders work like do ppl find they slip down much or anything? Thanks xx

I haven’t used strapless binders so i can’t say but hopefully our followers can.  Keep in mind that how binders fit on one person might be different on another depending on body shape (size of chest, size of ribcage, shape of stomach and waist), so reviews might consider these factors so OP can reflect how closely the reviewers match their own body shape.  We’ve recently been getting increased requests for binders/help finding free binders/need for binders.  While we recognize that this is a true and valid need, I want to make it clear we won’t accept/publish any more requests for binders, but we VERY HAPPILY will accept submissions for people who know of binder giveaways for our followers to enter or groups/organizations for binder grants.  This applies similarly for other transition garments for any gender.  Mod mayhem

Hi I'm not sure if tumblr (mobile) ate my ask but I was wondering if you would ever consider making strapless binders

We’ve tried, but we keep concluding that it doesn’t work safely for most sizes. Four-way binding just works better than two-way, for a bunch of reasons.

Corsets are not a good model to base a binder off of. You have to train for years to get more than an inch or two of compression with a corset, and poor corset training will deform your ribs, especially if the force is concentrated on the ribs instead of the waist.

We do appreciate your concern! Allow us to clarify a few things.

When we say we’re considering using corset boning for strapless binders, what we DO NOT mean is that we’re considering essentially making a corset and just calling it a binder.

Corsets are made from stiff, strong, non-stretch cotton, which is what creates the compression, with absolutely no give to it.  The boning only holds the garment’s shape.

All of our binders, meanwhile, are made and will only ever be made from high quality mesh spandex, which always has some give.  The only purpose behind the boning – plastic, not steel – would be to help the binder stay straight and unrolled.

Finally, let me reassure you and all of the rest of our customers: Your safety and comfort is of the utmost importance to us.  We will always thoroughly safety test new products. If we can’t wear them, you won’t ever see them.

Re: strapless binders... Have you ever considered something with a stiff bone like corsets have to keep it from rolling, then a zipper or velcro to put it on and off?

We have, actually, considered some type of boning.

Steel boning -- like in quality corsets -- is a no go because it’ll just rip right through the fabric, aside from other potential health risks.

Plastic might work.  But it has a tendency to warp really easily and potentially make it even more likely for the garment to roll (or, well, flip).

The other problem with boning is that even a simplified process of making all of those pockets for the boning to sit in would end up raising the cost of the binder a lot.

We would like to try it out, though, since that is our best idea so far; we just don’t really have a whole lot of time right now between trying to catch up on orders.

But we’ll keep you guys updated on our experiments!

Are strapless binders a thing? And are they safe?

Hi there!

Sadly, we haven’t figured out a way to make strapless binders not roll down.  There are some companies who’ve ventured into it, but we’re fairly sure that they’re made with unsafe materials that are likely to either crack your ribs or give you heatstroke.

We promise that we’re still brainstorming ideas, and y’all will know when we come up with something that’s both effective and safe.
