i just wanted to take a moment to thank the curators of stockport’s music map tour. it was my first time going today and my gosh, i was impressed with the wealth of information i learned about stockport’s music scene beginning from the early 60s. strawberry studios stands to be the holy grail of stockport and back in its prime, it fostered the talents of new and rising musicians. this is all thanks to eric stewart, graham gouldman and peter tattersall for making it all happen. it housed not only 10cc, but other well known acts such as paul mccartney, neil sedaka, leonard cohen and many others! i am just truly fascinated with the story behind strawberry. and to think it all just stemmed from one man who fancied a Beatles song, then turned it into a concept and that concept turned into a home for many musicians, young and old who were hopeful about honing their talents and showcasing those talents to the world. brilliant, just absolutely brilliant. so humbling to think about.
